Stash Star Fabric helps you organize and track your collection of fabric. When you’re shopping, know which fabrics you already own and how much. Don’t pull out your heavy boxes of fabric when you start your next project—let Stash Star Fabric help you plan.
Save as much or as little information as you choose. Take a picture of the fabric, then record the fabric name and its primary colors. Enter details about the fabric, such as the pattern size, fabric content, fabric type, designer name, and more. Want to know how much of the fabric you have? You can save the width (or cut) of the fabric and its length in yards or meters.
Additionally, you can record where and when you purchased the fabric, the price you paid, and where you’re currently storing it. If you want to enter more information, there is a special notes field specifically for that purpose. Or add your own custom attributes.
You can view all your fabrics on a single scrollable page. For ease in organization, you can group your fabrics by many of the attributes you enter, such as, color, width (or cut), length, fabric content, fabric type, designer, and more. You can also perform a search on your fabrics, to help you quickly find the exact one you’re looking for.
Stash Star Fabric is pre-configured with lists of the most common fabric types, fabric content, colors, and more. But you can customize the lists to add or remove items to tailor them specifically for your personal fabric collection. You can also customize the lists to show just your favorite items; the complete list is always just a click away!

This version gives you the option to customize the information you record about your fabrics. Say you want to track where your fabrics were made; it’s easy to add a new “Country” attribute to record that. Or maybe you don’t want to track the pattern size of your fabrics? Go ahead and remove the “Pattern size” attribute. Plus you can rearrange the attributes to get whatever layout you like best. It’s all easy to do with the new attribute editor in Stash Star Fabric 6.0.
Additionally, the "Export fabrics" option has a new format that should make it easier to export your fabrics to other apps.
Ratings and Reviews
Love this app! What a wonderful way to keep track of fabric!
I am new to quilting and I love this app. I have a ton of fabric that I can add to my virtual inventory! This app is really fun and I enjoy going to the fabric store with it. Makes life easier when it comes to matching patterns and colors. My only two complaints are; 1. that a user can’t shuffle or move the photos. I have fabric set aside for projects, and it would be nice to be able to shuffle the pictures so that the Fabrics I want to use for the project are next to each other. It makes it easier to see how they match together.
2. You can’t create a custom size. I have left over Fabrics in different sizes that are not listed on the app. I would like to put the custom dimensions in. So far, I haven’t seen an option to do that.
Other than these things, the app is great.
Thanks for the positive review!
We recommend using the “star” feature when you want to see fabrics for a project grouped together. Select the star for each fabric for the project, then select the star on the main fabric stash screen to see just those fabrics you’ve selected.
Additionally, you can create your own fabric widths. When viewing the list of widths, tap the “Edit” button near the top of the screen to enter editing mode. From there you can add, delete, and rearrange fabric widths in the list. Tap “Done” when finished.

Need syncing & iCloud back up
Just started using the app, so far so good in terms of the data it allows including editing feature, but unless it syncs through iCloud it's not as valuable in terms of practical usage. I need it on my phone for portability and my iPad for larger visual access when searching and using for projects.
Updating this review in October 2017 - can you PLEASE make this iCloud back up and therefore transferable/updated across iPad and iPhone?? It’s not as valuable in one location. It would be SO AWESOME to have it be available across technology options.
Thank you for your honest review. We’ve received a number of requests to use iCloud to share fabrics between iPhones and iPads. We’ve recently posted information about this feature on our Facebook page. Please visit us on Facebook (search for Stash Star Fabric) to read about the status of this feature.
Frustrating and limited
I have a large inventory of fabric and loved the idea of organizing it with an App. It was a huge disappointment to find that after I downloaded, or used the App camera, entered the logging information, and pressed “done”, the fabric and related info could not be found anywhere.
The App is sporadic in saving/logging info.
The App is limited to how many picture entries can be stored. The most I could Store was 28.
I could not find any way to group my fabrics together as quilting projects.
I do not recommend this App. Takes too much time for unpredictable results and too limited on storage.
