Absolutely love this!
I've only recently been made aware of Steam and the quite extensive list of games with insanely low prices. Now with this Steam app for my iPhone I can always check for new sales and game releases when I'm not able to do so on my PC. I also really love the remote download feature since 99.9% of the time I keep my Steam program open on my PC at home, I can browse their catalog. Make a purchase and then I'm given the option to start downloading the game(s) while I'm away from my PC!
Since I don't use the chat feature and so far I haven't felt the need to add station cash to my account, I haven't run into any of the problems others have because of the lack of there features. It does exactly what I want it to do: Look for any sales going on from my wish list, purchase it and start the download and by the time I get home, I already have the game(s) bought, downloaded and ready to play!
Thank you everyone at Steam for offering this app along with all of the other goodies you guys sell on your website. Keep up the good work and you'll have me as a customer for life!
Steam + your cell phone = hooray
It's nice having Steam available at all times right in the palm of your hands. There's some plus and negatives however to this mobile steam app. Positives are that there is the steam store so you can search and purchase new games to add to your steam game library, there's the chat feature which allows you to chat w/ your steam friends but, there's some key features that are found on the actual steam program that aren't found on the app like the forums, adding funds to your steam wallet, and not being able to perform trades w/ other steam members. If they could add the forums and the other 2 features that are normally found on steam and include them on the app version of steam then this steam app would be near perfection.
Could be better.
No forums, no group chat, no Metacritic link, no community content at all come to think of it.
The shop has improved but viewing screenshots is a huge struggle for some reason. You need to swipe left to page ahead, it doesn't work much of the time, and the app thinks you are trying to do a pull-down refresh or some kind up pull-up anti-refresh. There is also no video. If we can have fan-made guides for Dota 2 with tons of video, why not here?
Four stars anyway because Steam is basically great; and since use of the desktop client is not optional, the mobile app just doesn't need to be as good as I'm suggesting.
