Established in 1973, Stone Soup is the leading publisher of children’s writing and art in the English-speaking world. Stone Soup Magazine was founded for the purpose of encouraging children to read, write, and draw by showcasing their best stories, poems, and artwork in a high quality literary magazine. It challenges, motivates, and stimulates kids to deepen their engagement with reading, writing, and art. Long a fixture in schools, libraries, and the homes of children ages 8 to 13 who love to read and write Stone Soup is the perfect gift for creative children.

Stone Soup digital goes beyond the printed magazine with bonus features that are both fun and educational. Animation and sound make our beautiful illustrations come alive. Star ratings invite readers to participate by rating each story and poem. The Time Capsule zooms to a few of our favorite stories and poems from past issues. Glossary links provide definitions for words that may be unfamiliar to our readers. Each digital edition of Stone Soup also includes a bonus slide show of international children's art from the Stone Soup Museum.

Ratings and Reviews

Great magazine... Great App!!!

E. H.

Seeing Stone Soup as an App is absolutely great. Stone Soup has been a staple in our home over many years... It's a beautiful and unique "magazine," ostensibly for kids (by kids), but it's much more that that: it's an "institution" that brings creative young people from all over the world together... it's an inspiring (and entertaining) publication on the highest level.

The app is beautifully constructed and presented with tasteful animation and vivid reproductions, along with other ancillary add-on's, like animation and audio.

Highly recommended. Thank you, Childrens' Art Foundation for years of enriching so many lives and for moving forward into this latest phase--the app.

Wonderful In Pixels

We raised our children with Stone Soup magazine. This journal has always encouraged and published quality words and visual art from children who so clearly benefited for the experience of being much as we benefitted from they fine work. Now Stone Soup goes electric with a fine pixel version of their journal that lives up to the quality of their paper journal. Now when I am on a long line at the bank I can stay content while catching up with Stone Soup authors and artists.

Great app for creative children

Stone Soup magazine is a favorite in our home and the introduction of the app helps brings its content to life. Our daughter loves the animation used in the illustrations, the ratings systems for stories and poems, and extras like Google maps and slideshows. As a parent I love how there is glossary links for harder to understand words or for unfamiliar sayings. Overall a fabulous app for children who love reading, writing and drawing (all the content is submitted by children). It's educational and fun, a win-win. Thank you Stone Soup.
