Life changing, literally.
This is the first review I've ever written for any product. I always thought that when I find something truly life changing, I'll write a review. And today is the day. I've been drinking 2-3 drinks a night for over 15 years, and when I socialize, I binge. The thought of going a day without booze was terrifying to me. I decided to quit because I hated that I could think of nothing else by 5 pm. I found this app and began to listen to it daily. Andrew Johnson's voice is truly hypnotizing and he has a real gift. By Day 3 something changed. I had tremendous willpower. The evenings were still depressing, but the option of reaching out for the bottle didn't exist. I plodded through to Week 2 and by the end of the week, I began to feel the freedom he talks about. The clarity of thought. I listened for a couple of more days and stopped. I didn't do the full 3 weeks he recommends but I did it daily for over 2 weeks. It's such a joy to go to bed clear headed each night and I continue to be amazed by sobriety. So for over 20 years I have drank pretty much every night. I come from a long line of alcoholics and it has always been just what we have done after work, when we get together and when we are stressed. When my soul was finally so drenched in alcohol and torment, I tried and tried to quit but was always just white knuckling it until I caved. After failing over and over again, I got this relatively inexpensive App as one more thrust into sobriety. I can safely say that just like I trained myself to drink, Andrew has helped train me to be sober. I have a peace now that I have been longing for for 15+ years and don't ever see me looking back. My wife has heart bubbles popping over her head like a cartoon, my sisters and mom tell me I am inspiring them and I have no doubt God will leverage my experiences for the benefit of others. Forty days is just the beginning but I am very thankful for having found this App.
Always a skeptic
I'm skeptical by nature and pretty conservative with trying "snake oil" promises. I decided to give this a shot since I didn't like how much I needed to drink in the evening to sort out my anxious days. With so many free apps out there, you can feel like you're be taken when you actually pay for something, but I figured that the price is less than the bottle of wine I might drink in a night, so really, what did I have to lose?
I'm two days (nights) in, and yeah, I get that that's hardly a scientific test. But I can say without hesitation that the desire to drink is gone. I mean, completely gone for me. I used to think about it in the morning, how I couldn't wait until the evening to have a drink (really, multiple). I wake up in the morning, and the only way I can describe my indifference when I think about a drink is that I feel "full," as in couldn't fit it in.
I listen to it in bed at night, and I have fallen asleep both times before it finished. But it's doing what it needs to for me.
In sum, this is just my experience. I'm not a paid shill, I paid for the app with hesitation, and I'm a naturally skeptical person. But I have nothing but positive things to say. I can't believe I'm even saying this! It may not work for everyone, but $3 is generally cheaper than a drink out.
