— Track Anything You Can Imagine —

Four flexible types of trackers:

1. TARGET: Reach a goal value by a date, and always know if you're on track (green progress bar when on pace). e.g. "Lose 10 lbs by June 15th” or "Save $2,000 by November 1st”.

2. HABIT: Build a good habit or break a bad habit. Track X times per day/week/month, and optionally set a goal streak. e.g. "Workout 5 days/week” or “Drink Water 6 times/day”.

3. AVERAGE: Track your average value per log, day, week, month, year, or even a rolling average (last X logs). e.g. "Practice Guitar for 30+ min/day” or “Budget: $X/month or less”.

4. MILESTONES: Always know if you’re on pace to complete your project, or a goal with multiple steps. e.g. "Launch Website by May 1st”, or “Build Deck by Memorial Day".

1. Decide what you want to track.
2. Choose habit or goal tracker type.
3. Enter values and dates, set alerts.

Tip: Always set SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Timely).

Weak Product

I did get access to the iPad subscription after contacting the help desk. The subscription was not valid for the iPhone version. I keep getting an alert to pay an extra $40 for iPhone access to the full program.

The goals show up on both the iPhone and iPad, but the updates do not transfer between the devices.

Also, I did figure out how to change the categories: you can modify with the full price version.

Original review:
I purchased the annual subscription but never got access to the full app. So, it's a rip-off to start.

There are very few categories to choose from. So, if you're a person who operates beyond the goals for your weight, income, etc., you're out of luck with that function. It's just not a very flexible or functional product if you have an ounce of originality.

All good goals are measurable. This app, however, severely limits the metrics you can choose. For example, if your goal is to drink water, you're stuck with choosing the number of times per day you want to drink (as opposed to, say, setting a goal to drink 1 gallon a day). You have to be very willing to compromise your goals just to make the app work.

The app is not able to track the amount of time that you did something. For example, you can check that you exercised, but you can't track how many minutes you exercised. Walking up a flight of stairs has as much significance as a day-long hike in this app.

Love Strides; good customer service experience

I use this app multiple times a day, to track habits I'm trying to establish and actions I'm trying to limit in my life--like paying to ride the subway instead of riding a bike. I like the interface. For me it strikes a good balance between simplicity and just enough options to allow me to tweak how I track various things.

I also just had a great customer service experience with Strides. A few updates back, the app started running very slow and laggy. I emailed support and got a prompt response. After a few emails back and forth with someone who seemed like he actually cared about resolving my issue…my issue was resolved. Now the app is back to running quick and snappy.

Perfect! Changed my life!

This app is perfect for changing your habits! It took me a couple tries to figure out how best to use it for my needs -- I'm really glad I stuck with it because it has helped so much. I encourage you to try it! And the team is so responsive if you have questions, concerns, bug reports, etc. Definitely an actively managed app! My only regret is that the paid version is a subscription, and I personally still have trouble wrapping my mind around subscriptions for cell phone apps, so I would prefer if the paid version was a one-time purchase, but that's just me.
