No Random Map Option
This graphics updates are great, but the fact that there’s no random map option is a deal breaker. You can only play the campaign or in a free build where there are no enemies to battle. If a custom match option was added so you could play against the computer this would be five stars.
EDIT: Even if a custom match option was added, this would only be perhaps two stars. There are an abundance of bugs that need to be worked out before this game gets any good. The key bug I found was in free build where regardless of how many peasants you have waiting for a job, none of them go and fill the jobs automatically as they’re supposed to and as they do in the campaign. The only way to get them to fill the jobs is to shut down and restart all of the businesses you have which causes you to lose everything the peasants who have been working have built up. Additionally, during combat large blotches and blobs appear on screen for some reason, which disappear once the enemy has been dispatched.
Stronghold 2 was great as it was glitch free and had a random map option. It’s a shame this version turned out so terribly.
KInd of Disappointed
I think if you (firefly studios) adds maybe a custom match setting to where you could play against computer players that it would make this version alot better and you would atleast have something else to do besides the military and economic campaigns, which are hardly fun. Basically all im trying to say is what happened to the build your own castle and army and fight it out until you win? I like this game because im a huge fan of how stronghold plays which is incredible don't get me wrong because not many other games compare to the controls. On the other hand there are alot of glitches in this game where troops get stuck for no apparent reason which should be fixed asap. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but hopefully some things will be added
Has a lot of potential, but not worth buying yet...
This game has a lot of wasted potential. For starters, and most frustrating, my peasants on freebuild have a tendency to stand around and do nothing. Certain buildings are manned, while others are ignored. I have tried turning off the buildings and turning them back on to no avail. This is very frustrating after having carefully planned my village layout and set up infrastructure.
My second major gripe is the lack of a map editor. Half of the fun in a game like this is the free build option. This quickly becomes boring as there are only four free build maps available with this download. This could be a very good and engrossing game if updates worked out the glitches and added a map editor. Unfortunately, I can’t reccommend buying this game in its current condition.
