The elegant Sudoku assistant for Mac.
One of the first Sudoku applications for Mac. Used by thousands of Sudoku enthusiast since 2005.
What is Sudoku? It is a brainteaser coming from Japan, very popular in many countries around the world. There are scientific researches describing the mathematics behind Sudoku, and many teachers recommend it as improving logical thinking, but foremost it is a very enjoyable and intelligent puzzle game.
There is only one very simple rule: Fill in the grid so that every column, every row and each of the nine 3 x 3 boxes contains all digits from 1 through 9. Sounds easy? Try it out!
The aim of Sudoku Companion is to make solving Sudoku puzzles more convenient. It is very elegant and it has all necessary and expected features like:
- unlimited Sudoku generator
- 5 difficulty levels
- generating Sudoku in the background, so you don't have to wait for a new one
- convenient keyboard navigation
- multiple undos
- pencil marks
- you can save and load a puzzle or print it out
- and much, much more.
Sudoku Companion has also some additional options built in but be careful and use them wisely. They can change simple puzzles into boring ones but at the same time they can help you to concentrate on the strategy when you are solving really difficult Sudokus.
Sudoku Companion won’t solve anything for you, that would ruin all the fun, but it will allow you to enjoy solving Sudokus on your Mac without paper, pencil and bottles of Tipp-Ex.
What's New in Version 2.0.4
New address to receive "Sudoku of the Day" from.
I first got sudoku companion when it was free, and absolutely loved it. For some reason wasn’t able to even see it on my account when I bought a new computer, so I purchased what I thought would be the same thing. Alas… This version doesn’t highlight a mistake if there is one, you can’t edit notes (those little numbers you write to figure out which would work)- have to erase everything and write new notes if you type a wrong number by mistake, can’t turn off clicking sound when going between cells- not easily anyway, I couldn’t find it in the settings. Lastly, I’ve been getting the same “Sudoku of the day” 4th day in a row- I used to always look forward to those, but solving the same sudoku is not amusing at all.
All in all, this is buggy and inconvenient to use. Why “fix" something that wasn’t broken? The old app was so great...
