The latest version of The Sufferfest Training System for iOS features a SUF-load of enhancements to improve performance and stability. New features include:

Great App That Has It All
I really enjoy the Sufferfest app. It is nice to have one app that has all the rides, yoga, and now strength training workouts that I need. I have stuck to cycling and running exclusively for a few years, and I have noticed my overall strength and flexibility have declined. As they say too much of a good thing isn’t necessarily a good thing. I’ve been wanting to incorporate flexibility along with core and upper body strength into my workout routine for some time now. The yoga and strength plans have a wide array of difficulties and durations. Some are 15 minutes long which is great if I want to have a cool down stretch via a yoga video or a quick strength session after work. I also like that the app has medals you can earn. They seem frivolous sometimes but they have motivated me to do a ride because I want to keep my streak going.
If I could change or ask for one thing, I would ask for the ability to add a plan to my personal calendar. I haven’t figured out a way to take say a cycling plan and add it to a calendar outside of the TrainingPeaks platform. I use a different service for my cycling analysis so I don’t want to pay for TeainingPeaks just to plan my workouts. My very untechnical workaround for this is to print off the plan and keep track with pencil and paper. However, it would be nice to save some trees and have this information electronically.
SF is first rate!
For three or four off seasons I used the original “purchased” SF videos. I always figured I didn’t need to join the newer service plan as I had purchased 13 videos over those previous years. That was until I learned how training with power was way better than just perceived effort and cadence. I don’t have a smart trainer, but just completing an FTP test on a friends smart trainer set my FTP and gave me a good idea of what my different wattages feel like. Using that and following one of the SF training programs has got me working harder and smarter. I’ll pick up an ANT+ sensor to upgrade to virtual watts in the short run and will be picking up some Garmin Vector 3’s for accurate power readings this spring. Sufferfest makes trainer rides fun and for a low cost fee, delivers a lot of physical benefits. Well done Sufferfest.
Great app for smart trainer
Do you enjoy punishing yourself with hard workouts? Do you want to suffer even when the conditions make it challenging to get outdoors? Do you want a training plan to target your weaknesses and make them beg for mercy? If yes, this app is for you.
The fitness test gives you a great multi-dimensional look at your fitness, and links with other training apps to build a custom program. The videos are sarcastic and motivational, the video quality is great, and the soundtracks are well done. The only thing this app doesn’t offer is video footage of real-world routes, so if you’re more into exploring cool routes around the globe than using science to be a better rider you might look elsewhere. But if you want to be a better rider, this should be your jam.
