Polish in the wrong places
The game looks great. It plays OK. But it has some odd design choices that make it feel like a fight just to get started.
The core mechanic (at least starting off) is to make chain reactions. Drop a matching piece, the two merge & convert to another suit. If this then makes a match with the suit already below, they merge & convert, etc. Setting up chain reactions seems to be key, and knowing which suits convert to which is key to setting them up.
So why is the only place in the whole game this info is cleanly presented to you one spot half way through the tutorial?
The play is timed, and the timer is quite short. You don't have time to try and remember whether spades goes to hearts or the other way around. This info should really be in your face constantly... Work it into the border design or something.
Also, hiding the pause button under the ad banner is obnoxious.
So, if you're considering this game, be ready to do some studying & memorization before your first actual play.
Crashes all the time and graphics inconsistent
It could be really kind of pretty but the inclusion of the squiggly frowny face blocks? Out of nowhere when you miss, but only sometimes? Ruins it. Well that and it’s an obvious Tetris rip-off when Tetris was in alpha before they figured out to combine in multiple directions this one only does vertical? And then it doesn’t do it well. This game needs major reworking to get 3 stars even.
This is by far the most fun phone game I have ever played. I continue to play it regularly, even after a year and a half. I don't think I'll ever get sick of it!
