What's New in Version 4.00

This is an exciting day for all of us out there who schedule meetings. We think we might have finally found a solution to avoid spending more time scheduling a coffee than actually drinking coffee.

After more than a year of hard-work, we’re super thrilled to introduce Meet, the fastest way to schedule one-to-ones with Sunrise.

Meet is a keyboard for iOS 8 that lets you schedule one-to-ones right from where you are, without having to reach out for your calendar. You get to pick available spots in your week from your keyboard and send them to anyone through one short link. When the person on the other side picks the time that works best for them, the event is automatically added to both your calendars. And voilà!

Update the app and we’ll take it from there to show you how it works!

Like this feature? Let us know and we’ll build it for group meetings as well! As always, you can reach out to us via email at or on the @Sunrise Twitter account.

Thanks for using Sunrise everyday :)

– Sunrise team

Finally On Time to Appointments!

I am now on time to my appointments, thanks to this app!
I love this app and I am so happy to have found it. I have been using it for about 3 months now, and it has helped me easily keep track of everything I have to do, and I've been consistently making it to my appointments on time (for the first time ever)! It is perfect for someone like me who has ADHD and/or Time Management issues. What I have been doing is setting the alarm to go off starting at 1hr before I have to be somewhere, and then I'll have it go off after 1/2 hr, then 15 minutes, 5 minutes, and then at the time of the event. What's great is that I don't have to keep my phone on me or constantly check the time - it automatically makes a sound after each alarm time I've set, so I know how much time has passed. What would make this app even better would be making the alarm sounds customizable. So, for example, at, say, 15 mins before an event one alarm would sound, and then after 10 mins, 5 minutes before the event, another alarm would sound, making a different noise, etc.

I also really enjoy the UI; it's so simple and easy to navigate with just a few taps or swipes. Also the color coding, intuitive icons, options of viewing your day, and layout of the calendar mixed with your appointments is all beautiful, and has made this my favorite calendar app by far.

Innovative and more useful than ever thanks to Meet!

Sunrise is a very nice calendar app. As somebody with 4 calendar apps installed, I can vouch for it. I'd like to see a day/list view added, but it's not a deal breaker for me, or most anybody else either.

Innovation is the name of the game here. What has helped set Sunrise apart from the competition is its natural integration with other apps and services. You can link Sunrise with services like TripIt, Songkick, Foursquare, Github, Asana, Todoist, and Evernote, and more. They seem to be actively working on new integrations too and it looks good.

Then there is the newest feature: Meet. Meet is a third-party keyboard extension that makes setting meetups and appointments easy. Switch to the Meet keyboard and select a few blocks of time during which you're free. The keyboard can insert a link in the text field. When the recipient opens the link they're either taken to the Sunrise app, if installed, or to the browser. Either way, they're presented with the options you selected. They can pick which time works best for them and it will be automatically added to both parties' calendars. It's odd-sounding at first but in practice, it works quite well and the keyboard makes perfect sense for this.

If you use any of the services with which Sunrise integrates, and you need a new calendar, I can't recommend this app enough.

Getting there - but not there yet.

What I like most is that the team is striving to achieve an improvement in the well trodden path of calendaring apps.

I was attracted by the social integration - being able to check avatars and social content (like LinkedIn) from within the app.

The "Meet" function has potential, but is flawed. Sending a link which the recipient must then open and further must enter their email address is a bad plan. If Sunrise can format the html page from which recipients of a Meet can select a time, they can send the email in html format and save the hassle. Meet will be even better when more than one recipient can be included.

The Mac desktop app desperately needs a single day view. With only a seven-day view, the UI is too cramped. Events that do not have a duration have no pixel height in Sunrise (don't ask me why people send events without a duration - but they do). So a 5 pm event without a duration shows up as a blip. Apple iCalendar at least give the event enough vertical pixel space for the event title to show.

There is more --- but I believe the team is working to improve the app --- where iCalendar has matured and no longer improving.

Recently, I've started using Outlook's new email client from MSFT's acquisition of Acompli. Sunrise appears to be working toward a smooth experience when the two are used together - something that will add even more value to both apps.
