Repent, Unbelievers!

Behold the coming of The Worm of the World's End, whose body underlies the lands and ocean and whose thrashings will destroy the world when it awakes. Its hunger will lead to global ruination.

The apocalypse cometh, in all its 8-bit, retro-gaming glory. What other game casts you in the role of a Tremors-ish "graboid," hundreds of feet long, with the following abilities: acid spit, fire breath, and electromagnetic pulse (EMP)? The ultimate rush is when you rebound off pickup trucks, police cars, tanks and planes right into geosynchronous earth orbit. Aside from these, it's the little details that count: when the hapless humans you are about to devour utter their final words, such as "Tell my wife I love her," and "No, I just bought a new car!" Its twisted touches like these that elevate this from a run-of-the-mill twitch game, to a unique gaming oddity.

In other words: its loads of fun.

Goofy fun

Once I understood that the controls are only keyboard-based--which I was told in a very, very quick response (especially for a Friday night) after an e-mail to the company--and stopped trying to use my trackpad to start the game, it was extremely fun. It is a simple, silly ( though somewhat gory) game where a Dune-ish wyrm (or, if you prefer, Tremors-ish) zips around controlled by the left/right arrow keys around to eat what look like hillbillies (but, since it is retro graphics it is hard to tell) above ground and occasional bonus objects below ground for points and cows for food. That is the basics; I have not gotten that far. In sum, the customer response was awesome and the game is simple fun. What more do you want for the price of a cup of coffee?

Pretty good, but needs an update

I have this game for the iPod touch, iPad and now my Mac. It is an amazing game. The problem is that it needs an update to the version available for mobile devices. The vs. Santa adventure is missing, along with the better worm. Also, sometimes after getting a high combo, it crashes. If you played Super Mega Worm on a mobile device when it had just come out, you will notice that the same music plays in this version that did before the mobile device version was updated. It has awesome music. I would recommend trying the mobile lite version before spending $2.99 for this version, but I really enjoy playing this game.
