Ratings and Reviews
I understand it takes money to run Surfline cams and reports and to pay people to write articles. I recently used the free premium trial and then paid for a month before canceling. Being able to stream cams uninterrupted, was great for those lully days to see if there is some sets now and then. And being able to download some footage of myself surfing on a good day this fall was pretty cool. And seeing the longer forecasts was helpful. So why did I cancel so soon? The premium version just did not feel premium to me because it was still full of ads. It seemed the only thing that did not still have ads was the cams. If I paying for access to your site, I just want to see cams and the articles, not ads all over, not acceptable for a paid subscription. Plenty of articles such as the Vans series and Billabong suit reviews are already pretty much ads. So why the random ads floating around? Another issue is the extreme focus on shortboarding only. Some folks ride longboards, some ride bodyboards, some ride kneeboards, others a hand plane might be their thing. So write some articles about some of those wave riding forms, and stop being so world tour surfer centric. And last but not least hire some interns or techs to clean cams on a regular basis.

Thanks for this feedback. I'd love to hear the specific ads that you're finding particularly interfering with your experience. You can write back here or to email@example.com. Aloha, David
Surf line is something I check everyday
The true surfer mentality is to go no matter what but go where is what surfline helps. When I'm at my desk I can watch the jobless groms sherd until I get off work and run out to the southern California chop I know it's choppy cause surf line tells me so. Sunset and pch? Nope tides too high. Thanks surf line. Also I paid for the surfline premium it's worth it. So I can watch the venice cam and think nope it's still a beach break.
Woah trestles.. Too far but I know it's good because of surfline. County lines the only place getting surf. Drive an hour and a half thanks to surf line and get there for it to be just as packed as first point. Surf line is cool, but it'll say it's poor out and I'll have the best day of my surf life. So don't always trust it. Trust your gut go to Topanga during low tide. Destroy your board and quit surfing. Forever.
Also the hurricane updates and swell reports are tight. Something to get hyped about and tell your wife a week or so in advanced so she doesn't complain that you surf too much
Still The Best Surf App/Website
Yes I agree that the ads are a bore (but there aren't any though if you're a Premium member), but it's a minor nuisance to bear for access to accurate reports and a beautiful interface with the most cams available. It occasionally has crashed on me too but rarely recently. For my 80 or so bucks per year Premium subscription for extended web forecasts, having this companion App is a dream and i actually use it more than the website everyday. Well worth the cash and minor nuisances - when the App is down due to location reception issues, going directly to Surfline Mobile on the internet usually will work unless one's cell signal is close to nonexistent. I agree that controllable cameras would be ideal but with their subscribership it would probably be impossible (can you imagine playing camera tug of war with 5000 Chads and Kimos at your favorite spot). Let's stop whining - you pay more and it isn't perfect but it's pretty darn good. Disclaimer - I'm not on their payroll).
