The Sweetzpot Rowing App gives rowers real-time feedback on water about boat speed along with applied effort. Clear visualization of metrics in the app helps both individuals and teams maximize boat speed by continually adapting their effort aiming to reach the elusive sweetspot.
Key features of the app are as follows:
- Visualize pace (based on GPS), surge/stroke rate, heart rate (based on HR monitor), distance, and time simultaneously in real-time to discover strokes best adapted to you and your team.
- Post-analyze training sessions based on clear and simple graphs
- Freely exchange and share raw data about acceleration, location, and heart rate for further analysis
The app is 100% free of charge with goal of reaching a maximum number of rowers world-wide and contributing to the growth of the sport. The app is suitable for all categories beginners, intermediate, and advanced rowers.
We have fixed a problem that caused the total distance not to show properly. Also, when you row with two sensors, they are stored separately for further processing.
Ratings and Reviews
I have used SZ Rowing App during a few on the water training sessions in my single. I love the fact that the app is free, provides distance covered, and 500 meter splits. However, my biggest complaint is that the timer runs slow. I run the app in conjunction with my Suunto GPS watch and the distances covered are the same, but I noticed that my watch always read slower times. I tested the app’s timer in a controlled environment against my watches stopwatch and my iPhone stopwatch for 4 minutes and the app was 9.7 seconds slower. This bug needs to be corrected. I still appreciate what the developers are trying to do.
Good but needs improvement
On iPhone tracks movement in the boat really well. And the display is shows enough contrast to see the screen.
Will upload to Strava although gets errors occasionally.
However the analysis doesn’t show the right units for split. Doesn’t upload to concept2 logbook.
I contacted the developer last year to make improvements and still has changed.
For the price it does its job
I have been looking for an app similar to the Android's Boat Coach for my iPhone. I thought I would try this app as it showed distance, stroke rate, split and time. It seemed to do that well. The problem was that it was really hard to see while rowing. The labels of the boxes are next to impossible with polarized sunglasses and the numbers are not thick enough to see when there is any glare. If the font of the numbers changed and the contrast were increased, I think I would use this app more.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
