"Start recording video faster with your iOS device" - CNET
"This is a simple, single function app that does what it claims." - AppAdvice.com
Capture video at lightning speed with Swift. Stop missing those important video moments. Quickly capture video at full resolution. Simply launch swift and video recording begins instantly. Exit the app to end the recording. Swift is simple, quick and effective. Great for parents who never want to miss that special moment.
Swift is a must-have app for vacations, sports events, parties, school programs and those poignant everyday moments. No more missing the action while fumbling with settings or switching from camera to video mode; with one tap capture the moment before it passes.
Oddly enough given my usual experience with obscure apps, this thing works perfectly and has a coolness factor to its simple interface. It detected orientation just fine and didn't drop any videos (which auto-appear in the Camera Roll). But there's also a fun focus spot metering ring that appears where you tap on the preview during recording. And, within it can be dragged a further exposure adjustment slider to bring up ambient light or deal with backlighting during recording! Unlike other apps it doesn't stupidly stop recording if I happen to touch the screen other at a tiny button (timer) location. On an iPhone 4 the autofocus works fine as the scene changes yet the spot meter helps get its attention if it has gotten lazy on you.
If I turn the screen brightness way down it becomes fairly stealthy so I could prop the phone up when setting it down after a single icon tap. The fill light can be turned on but unlike other quick start apps like Qcamera the flash does not auto start even if turned off in the settings.
perfect except wrong orientation
Apple should have made Photo and Video separate home screen buttons to begin with, and this fixes that. That fiddly little slider in the regular camera app is incredibly slow and unresponsive.
The one problem with this app is that about half the time it starts up taking video in vertical orientation, even if you rotate the device to horizontal before opening the app. If it's run once recently, or if you stop and start it recording, it'll get the orientation right -- but that kind of defeats the purpose of the whole app.
Works about 50% of the time
The concept is awesome, the startup is fast... Though I've had two videos that I truly would have loved to have not save!!! It's so disappointing to stop recording after several minutes of catching your child do something adorable only to find no video saved to the camera roll and the moment gone. This plus the orientation issue others have mentioned makes this a "sometimes app" as opposed to my go-to video app. So sad. :(
