Description

#1 paid app. in Japan! (Jan 11, 2010)

“Sword & Poker” is an RPG game, based on the classic poker game.

Unlike the recent RPG games that are usually complicated, we created an RPG game that is simple to use, so that everybody can enjoy.

The game rules are simple!
“Combine cards horizontally, vertically or diagonally to create a poker hand”
Together with its simplicity, we also combined the fun elements of an RPG game and the shrewdness of card games to create a unique sense of fun.

■ ≪ Story ≫
This is a story of a magical world based on cards.
Our story begins with the appearance of the monstrous creature called the “Lord of Chaos” in a small and peaceful village.

The “Lord of Chaos” has captured the magical “Stone of Creation” from the bottom of the earth, and has created a sweeping dungeon using the powers of the stone.
Many have attempted to defeat the “Lord of Chaos”, but they were all captured by his five loyal guardians ruling the area, and have not returned.

Now another warrior, in ready to challenge the “Lord of Chaos” and return the “Stone of Creation” back from the mighty dungeon. And so his quest begins…

Customer Reviews

Simply - Wow

Why is this game so Hot?
Simple: Unique, complex, simple gameplay, re-playability, fun, long, and yes, CHEEZY graphics (but don't let them fool you).
I bought this game at version 1.0 when it had 5 reviews and I was Blown Away!
The Developer's only fault is charging $0.99 (lawl). This game is well worth $3 at least, but let the good times roll for the iTunes community!
Easily the best app i've spend only $1 on and I've purchased over 200 apps - this one is a keeper.
If you like (not even love) poker, like a slight rpg twist (no WOW here), coupled with pure strategy and planning, you'll LOVE this game.
The reviews are no joke.
A game without a summary you ask?! Well the dev doesn't care to woo you with BS, he lets the game and ratings speak for themselves, and they have!
Give it a try and you will not be disappointed!
Did i mention the graphics and monsters are cheezy? My only small issue. I suppose i could be battling less colorful dragons instead, but won't not change the astounding gameplay.

To the player who complains about you always having the first turn and missing out on the secondary hands - try passing! Obviously you have not played more than 5 out the the hundreds of minutes of play!

Must have for people

who like RPGs or card games. Expect all the gameplay essentials swords spells etc. The game is constantly rewarding because it always gives you something new. Haven't seen innovative mixed genre rpg like this since puzzle quest. But I really think I will like this better because no time can be wasted on unnecessary stuff that's not fun.

Game is rewarding, fun, and has atleast 30 hours of gameplay if you really good most ppl probably 40 but still has incredible replay value. Get this and S&P2 you got a steal at 1.99 a piece. Easily could go for atleast 20 a piece on another console.

Only thing could be different is give you story after every boss fight about why the character choose this journey. This could easily still be done with update. Even though I bought both games haven't beat 1 so 2 might just have it. More than worth it though.

To the guy below I usually only have to pass once every 6 fights if that. Don't forget spells that change the field. Also being poker there is usually a higher play straight flush etc but sometime require you to look a little harder. Also pay attention to the enemies hand and make sure get most out of the turn.

Well balanced Poker and RPG application

When I was younger I used to play the Final Fantasy games as they were released. I don't have the time for those epics anymore, but I saw this application and had to get it. This game is a stripped down RPG that lets you increase your HP, obtain "magic," and improve your weapon and shield. Your attack is based on the poker hands you form and, if applicable, what magic you have cast. Your level is well matched to your opponents. They can be tough but they don't overwhelm you. If you die, you can start the floor over. You'll keep your cash but lose any prizes you gained on that floor. The game automatically saves whenever you leave, so no need to work your way to a save point. Once you've beaten the first major boss, bonus levels are opened. At any point, including after you've beaten the game, you can go back through earlier levels to build cash and buy better health, armor or weapons. QUITE ENJOYABLE AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I will soon start playing Sword & Poker 2.
