Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Syfy Now is your destination for full episodes of your favorite Syfy shows, including new episodes available the day after they air for most programs. Once you open the app, log in with your cable or satellite provider account to gain access to the currently available episodes. The same app works on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – you can even sync your watchlist and in-show progress across multiple devices via iCloud.
If your cable or satellite provider isn't currently available via Syfy Now, there's still plenty of great things for you to enjoy, including selected full episodes and clips from Syfy shows, behind-the-scenes interviews, original online series like BlastrTV and more.
Syfy Now features:
* AirPlay! You can now stream Syfy Now to your Apple TV. Start the episode in the app and stream to your television.
* Add episodes to the watchlist for later viewing.
* Season pass feature adds new episodes of your favorite shows to the watchlist.
* Cross-device syncing via iCloud allows you to sync watchlists and pick up where you left off on any iOS device you own.
* Share what you're watching via Facebook, Twitter and email.
* PLUS: You can watch Syfy shows and movies LIVE inside the app, just as if you were watching the network on your television. So it's like watching live TV - just on your computer or mobile device! (Note: Most of Syfy's shows are currently available, and we're working hard to make those that aren't available soon).
Current television providers include the following:
Time Warner (Now Available!)
Wide Open West
...and many more. For a complete list of providers, download the app or visit http://www.syfy.com/providerlist

A lot of Ads and No Multi Tasking
I downloaded this app so that I could watch the two additional episodes of the expanse. Advertisements stated that the episodes would be available on demand however they were not available through my cable provider which is Xfinity. I went to the Syfy website and they made me download the app to be able to watch the episodes.
I started to watch the episodes using my iPad, broadcasting it to my Apple TV, but during the many many many commercials they inserted, the app would not allow me to play games or switch to other screens while playing the TV shows. If I tried to exit, The broadcast with stop and when I started it again it would be reset to the beginning of the commercials. I found this to be extremely annoying.
In the end I wound up broadcasting the shows through my iPhone to my Apple TV, so that I could use my iPad while watching the show. The graphics in the app are fantastic, but the developers still have some work to do. Overall I give it four stars.
Ads are repetitive, but it gets the job done
This app is the same as the other NBCUniversal cable properties such as the USA Network. You can watch full episodes (before the cutoff window) provided you watch the commercials and if have home cable service from one of the providers NBC has a deal with (I do - Time Warner). It does seem to sign you out pretty aggressively, meaning you have to re-authenticate with your cable provider more often than you'd think is necessary, but whatever.
As a video player, it's average - the streaming quality was good (few pauses), but not great (lowered visual quality a lot of the time, and distortion in fast-moving portions of the image). Perhaps that's the bandwidth/latency where I'm watching; hard to tell. It does let you go back 10 seconds, which is nice when you miss something, and the closed caption is handy when the dialog is hard to understand.
The worst thing about the app is the ads -- not that they are there, I get that, but that the ad inventory is so crappy. I saw the same ads over and over and over again, sometimes twice in a row! Come on guys, you must have a lot of viewers, can't your ad sales team get more inventory? I might even pay attention.
On the plus side, at least the app lets you restart in the middle and move the playback ball forward to restart in the middle where you left off. Some of them don't.
Try again later...
My experience thus far.... Open app, select show and select episode to watch. Sit through 3-5 commercials in glorious HD. Show starts. After 5 mins of choppy low quality video I get a spinning (buffering?) wheel. Not something I see often (ever) on my 100Mbps connection. Force quit app. Restart iPad. Open app, select show and select episode to watch. Sit through 3-5 commercials in glorious HD. Show starts. Scrub through to where I left off. This time maybe 30-45 seconds of low quality video that makes VHS look like 4K Ultra HD then back to spinning wheel of misery. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. After easily 4hrs of this to get through barely one episode of Childhood's End, I went and watched the rest of the mini-series "somewhere else".
If I wanted to spend 4 hrs watching endless commercials with just over an hour of some mediocre action squeezed in between, I'd go back and watch a recording of last year's Super Bowl.
