O.K. iPod app, mediocre iPad app (at best)
I was excited when I heard about the Symbaloo app! I tried it on my iPod and it looked good, and gave me easy access to my bookmarks. However, I was very disappointed when I saw that it wasn't universal for the iPad; it doesn't re-orient to landscape, and frankly looks horrendous when blown-up on an iPad. Migh as well just open the web page, which doesn't look that great on an iPad, ether, granted, but is a good sight better than the app.
Great app - but make it universal
The visual bookmarking is a great idea for students, a very user friendly interface. The app is a good tool for use in the classroom with students in order to help limit the scope of their "browsing" and keep students on topic; however, the app needs to be iPad native. The iPhone app on the iPad just does not do it justice. Make it a universal app.
We use Symbaloo to keep track of all the sites and programs we teach the teachers on "tech Wednesdays". Then we have the teachers bookmark it so they can remember what to use and how to get there.
