Didn’t work! Messed up other devices!
I just installed the FamilyMode Home Base yesterday and as of last night realized that it wasn’t working well. It is supposed to manage each child’s usage and turn off during “bedtime” but did neither of those things. This morning others said their computer and phones were not working and these were the devices that were not designated on FamilyMode. My FamilyMode app would not allow me to sign in so I had to disconnect the Home Base from my router. I talked with T Mobile and now have a “ticket” and have to wait for them to work on these issues before I can retry it again. In theory, if it worked- would be a great asset to have, but when it doesn’t work, it could interfere with other devices in the home. Also don’t know why I can’t sign into the app. Hopefully it will get resolved soon. My recommendation would be to wait until more of the kinks have been worked out before considering this as a device monitoring plan. Dealing with this issue has wasted a good portion of my morning.
Downloaded this app and it requires you to put in put your password twice and send a text message to your phone every time you use it and if he use it for more than a few minutes at requires you to do that again first first sign of pain, then it doesn’t work trying to set it up per the steps on one of my kids devices even though we all have same phone. It would not allow second parent to get set up on the account, even though I add on the primary account the second parent app does not work on her phone. Lastly even if you get it all set up on your devices he can be easily bypassed by any kid with more than the most basic knowledge of the Internet. Hence the rating an absolute piece of junk. The service associated with it is crap as well, any attempt to call in or to get service online is poor, you need to go to a T-Mobile store and have a T-Mobile rep set up the whole thing and hope it works for a while until your kid realizes it is so simple to bypass.
Great idea poor execution.
If they spent more time and development on its function rather than its packaging they’d be on to something here.
When I first bought both the plan and the home base a couple of weeks ago I almost returned it the next day because the management app was deleted from the App Store for unanswered reasons. I was told to use the management web portal, which I could not find or access on my t-mobile.
A week or more later, while lugging the base around with the intention to return it, I searched for answers on whether this product would be supported or not going forward and found the app was back so I downloaded it and gave it and the base a try.
As of now I still cannot login directly with the app. I continue to get the message “The App is experiencing difficulties. Login using T-Mobile’s App optimized web page.” It loads it in the app and I can login. More frustrating is that my login is not preserved and I’m forced to manually login twice every time and login even when I switch away from the app and back to it.
I can go on because there’s more issues but I’m out of time for now...
