Excellent App

First off - this is a Tabata Timer. By definition, tabata interval training is 20 seconds of high intensity exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times.

That is exactly what that timers does and it does it well and is simple to use. It gives you a 3 second audible countdown then starts the 20 seconds for the high intensity of exercise. At the end of 20 seconds it gives a 3 sec audible count telling you it is time for the 10 seconds of rest. That is followed by 20 seconds, 10 seconds, etc until all 8 sets have been complete.
The screen also has a nice easy to watch visual that display the seconds going by in the form of a screen color that darkens. But I rarely look at that since I am to busy doing my Tabata interval exercising.

If you are going to tabata you want this app.

Works great with music, but can't play in background

Does what it is supposed to do with no complaints. A few thoughts:

1.) Don't understand people complaining about no sound. Just turn the silent mode off!

2.) Also, the ones saying there is no option to change the time settings obviously have NO IDEA what Tabata is all about.

3. If there is one flaw, it would be the inability to play in the background in order to save battery. You must leave the app turn on the entire time rather than just allowing it to beep. It is not always necessary to watch the timer, especially when you are busy working out.

Works great

It does exactly what it says -- it keeps time for Tabata sets. I think a lot of people here don't know what a Tabata set is...it's quite simple: 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, for a total of 8 sets. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything else is some other form of interval training. Some possible improvement suggestions: have a stop/go voice or sound, because your mind sort of stops working around the 6th Tabata set :). Maybe some more sound customizations…but that's pretty minor frosting. Simply stated, it works and is absolutely accurate to its description.
