Best idea yet many flaws
I'm going to keep my review short and sweet. I love the app but it has so many flaws, but to be fair I don't think I've ever seen a mobile ordering app that can get everything right. My biggest gripe is not being able to add toppings on the side like I can in person. Better yet, that is my biggest gripe, that you can't customize your order as easily as you can in person. I don't know why it's so difficult for them to just basically make the cashiers screen here on the app (minus the manager options and such) but it really is ridiculous that I can't order a side of creamy jalapeño sauce without having to tie it to a specific taco and then that wreaks all kinds of havoc because they seem to think adding a sauce means I don't want sour cream when that could be further from the truth. Taco Bell, I love you to death, you are my homie but you need to get your online mobile ordering game on point. How do you ever expect to when the franchise wars likes this? (Demolition Man Reference). Anyway.... Listen to these reviews man, it will seriously help you better your app! Now off to order 3 double decker taco supremes with onion and creamy jalapeno sauce and see if they get it right this time or if they f it up like they have over 12 times in the last two weeks..... Here I come T to the Bell!
Waste of time and money...
So me and my fiancé decided to go to Taco Bell for dinner. I suggested using the app to maybe make it easier for us to place due to how picky we both are and that almost everything we order we have them not add certain things. I placed the order and selected in store pick up, got a email showing the order number (items on the order)/total amount/last four digits of the card used/and the correct location of the store I arrived at. I walked in and they didn't have my order, talked with a manager who got called over and was treated like I was trying to rip them off. After showing my email and waiting over a hour for the order to possibly show. I got told if I could log in to my credit cards online site and show it charged my account they would make it for me (my CC online account doesn't show transactions up to 48 hours after) so that didn't work. I ended up leaving the store, no food in hand and felt disrespected. I contacted their email customer support (which is horrible in its own) I finally got a response three days later telling me they needed more information from the order and could take up to 8 days to get returned. Order placed 7/3, now it's the 18th and still have not got my money returned but still trying... Just stay away from the app, you have to go there anyway to get the food so might as well just place your order when you arrive.
Very Clean but Needs More Work
I like the style, the design, and the layout of the app. If it's not intuitive, there are indicators to show you what you're looking at or what you're ordering. There are still a few problems though:
Since my last review, they have improved on the store integration. You still want to "check in" with an employee even if you hit the button to tell them that you're here, but it has been much easier for them to find and confirm my order.
The customization, while thorough in most places, is not complete. Why can't I change out the crunchy taco supreme that comes with my #1 (Burrito Supreme) combo to a Doritos supreme one? You can exchange from a regular she'll supreme to a Doritos non-supreme, but not like for like. "Just add tomatoes and sour cream!" I do, but it is actually a greater up-charge than the regular supreme up-charge because it considers it two upgrades. Weirder yet? Get a #4 (Mexican Pizza) combo and there's no charge to go from a crunchy taco supreme to a Doritos supreme; the option is already there in the list, no customization needed. Why? Order a burrito supreme a la carte and you can get it grilled, but part of a combo and you cannot? It's the same item!
The bonuses and ways to earn freebies now are great, but even without them, I would like the app enough to give it five stars if they could just take care of these quibbles.
