A fun visual quick delicious experience
I downloaded the app on a whim after seeing a delicious Taco Bell commercial. The app is user-friendly and does it's job at making you more hungry with the use of a visually appealing menu. After you've completed your order and paid via Taco Bell gift card or credit/debit card, you're then prompted to finalize your order upon arrival. In my opinion, this defeats the purpose of ordering on-line. Therefore I finalize my order three minutes prior to arrival and chose to pick my order up inside. My order was ready within one minute of walking in. I gave them my order number and was in and out faster than expected. so my overall experience with the app in this particular Taco Bell location was better than expected. I do have one suggestion, I'd like to order a few sides of sour cream but for some reason this option is not made available within the menu of the mobile app. Therefore upon arrival I had to pull out some cash to purchase my Sarah cream. I'm sure this is an oversight from Taco Bell corporate and hopefully will be at it soon. That's my review of the Taco Bell mobile app.
Great app...when it works
I'd like to start by saying the design and order flow of this app is superb. One of, if not the best mobile ordering apps in fast food. The menu attempts to sync to what store you have selected, editing orders and adding/removing components to an item is simple and quick. There are a few problems that need some tweaking.
Failed checkout: This is the biggest one IMO. You just finish entering in a huge order, get to the check out part with your CC info and then the app says "there was a problem".
That I can understand, but then it CLEARS YOUR ENTIRE ORDER. Why can't I just retry? Why is the error message so vague? Is there a problem on the stores end? This issue needs to be worked out. There are occasions when I decide against eating at taco bell that day because of this. Incredibly frustrating!
Constant location: The app wants constant location access. Most likely to determine when you're near the store. That is too much to ask. I have to turn location off when I don't want taco bell and back on when I do. It should only be on when I prep an order.
When everything works and I can actually pay for my order, this app is awesome. Unfortunately it has tended to fail on checkout more often than not.
App is fantastic! Needs some final tweeking.
There have been many times that I've ordered through the app and employees have just figured it out, and it was the exact experience that I would have expected from mobile ordering. Other times, (about 80% of the time) they've freaked out and I have to hold the store accountable to giving me my beverage since they usually serve that at the register. A few times a flavor or the whole freeze machine is down, and I end up having to substitute for a drink etc. would love to see the app receive feedback from stores on flavors that are unavailable, etc, and stores have more training on how to receive these orders. But 4 stars for the app - missing one for a few minor kinks that need to be worked through.
