WHAT IS TALKSPACE?
Talkspace is a platform that connects users with a licensed therapist. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms of stress, feeling depressed or having anxiety attacks, Talkspace is the place for you. It’s also great for couples that need a new spark of motivation, to relieve tension and to increase positive feelings in their relationship. We will connect you with a dedicated, licensed therapist for on-demand, private text, audio, and video chat therapy, anywhere and anytime. All in the palm of your hand, on your phone or web browser!
HOW DOES TALKSPACE WORK?
Talkspace is easy. Anyone can start with a free consultation, so you can chat with a Matching Agent who will answer any questions and ultimately match you with a therapist based on a number of factors. As a Talkspace member, you will have access to your private counselor and secure chat room where you can discuss your life, ask questions and raise troubling issues. Your Talkspace therapist will check in with you based on your agreement with them (usually 1-2 times a day).
TALKSPACE IN THE PRESS
• “The process was identical to what I had experienced in traditional therapy, except that I had access to it anytime I pulled out my iPhone.” – Wall Street Journal
• “Roughly 46 million Americans had a mental illness in 2011 but only 39% sought treatment. Barriers to seeking treatment include the cost, stigma, and time commitment. Talkspace aims to erase those barriers.” – CNN
• “It’s really like texting. It’s easier to write out my feelings, rather than when you’re sitting in a room with someone and it’s hard to explain things.” – Mashable
• “I spent 7 days with a therapist who only knew me via text message and I might never go back to traditional therapy again.” – Business Insider
• “By keeping users anonymous, Talkspace hopes to alleviate the stigma that currently prevents 28% of people who need mental health care, but don’t receive treatment, from finding a therapist.” – The Verge
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
For only $25 per week (billed monthly), Talkspace members gain unlimited access to a licensed therapist, free from appointments and the inconvenience of traveling or taking time off work. Our pricing plans are 80% lower than the average co-pay for traditional, in-office therapy appointments (which are usually only one hour long and twice a month).
WHO ARE THE THERAPISTS?
We have over 300 licensed therapists in the Talkspace network with more than 3,000 years of combined medical experience! Our counselors’ backgrounds vary, specializing in issues that include: stress and anxiety, depression, LGBTQ issues, domestic violence, PTSD, repression, phobia, work/life issues, chronic illness, and many more. Each Talkspace counselor undergoes an extensive background check to ensure proper qualifications and a proven track record of providing excellent service and guidance.
IS TEXT-THERAPY EFFECTIVE?
Some studies show that online chat therapy is as effective as traditional therapy. Other research demonstrates that online therapy is sometimes more effective than face-to-face therapy, as text-messaging allows for more immediate care and higher engagement.

This is the real deal.
My work schedule doesn't allow me to take time off a lot, so having a therapist "in my pocket" so to speak is a great way of getting the help I need, on my schedule.
I find that the more specific you are with what's going on in your life and what you need with the initial therapist, the better the match between you and the therapist assigned to you. I made three very specific requests for my therapist, and they were able to match me with someone of a similar background. This has made all of the difference in my recovery.
In the three months that I've used the service, I've made great strides in my personal development because my therapist was able to identify the behaviors which were causing me stress and making me act in ways that were detrimental to my well-being. She encourages me when I experience breakthroughs and can turn my thoughts into positive action and reminds me of how far I've come since I started when I can't. I can truly say that I feel stronger than I have in a long, long time. Even if I have a ways to go, I don't think I'd be where I am today if it wasn't for her.
It is eMail, Not Texting Therapy, but I'm Happy
The marketing is misleading: this is secure email with photo, audio, and video (up arrow) attachments. They bill it as "unlimited messaging" but it is limited by the 2-4 times a day you get responses. So far I'm happy with the therapist was assigned and audio works great. I'm used to audioletters with friends and podcasts, but this is not how it is advertised. Tell the intro person at least a few paragraphs of your issues to help getting the right person, and, objections aside, get a new assignment if you don't like who you get. The therapists get about half what you pay, which is very little per hour compared to other services or in-person. But you're the customer, so if you don't get substantial and timely responses, ask for someone new. I get twice a day M-F answers that are thorough. They use licensed therapists with real names and license numbers so I suggest checking who you get out to see if they really do match what you want. You usually can't get a refund, you can just cancel the auto-renewal, so buying a month means you're stuck with that much time. $30 start codes are available so don't settle for less.
If I could give 0 stars I would. They will take your money and run!
My husband and I need counseling. We thought this was a great idea to give this a try. Unfortunately we were wrong! I spoke with my "consultant" Jennifer K. She was very chatty and seemed helpful. Then she provided the link to pay. I paid 189$ for 1 month of couples therapy. She then provided me a link for my husband to join us in the consult private room. The first link did not work at all. The second one she provided took him to a different consultant Anne. So he asked her if she could help him get to the right room. She said she could, then signed off. Jennifer has never responded to try to get my husband into the room with us. I've contacted customer service, emailed on Facebook too, no replies. Oh and by the way, the reason there are no Negative comments on their fb site is because they delete them. I've written two that have never shown up on the page. Just trying to warn others. They will take your money and do NOTHING to help you after that. Only scum of the earth would take money from people seeking help, under the guise that they would provide that help.
