What's New in Version 2.4.5
Bug fixes and performance improvements.
Not for low speed connections
I love TED. I have watched countless talks and downloaded many of them that I rewatch for inspiration and even academic reference. I play them often when I give a seminar or lead a gathering of postgraduate students in my institution in Uganda. I thought this app would finally help me cutting the downloading problems. Unfortunately, the absence of the back and refresh buttons, and history not being saved, make excrutiatingly painful to find and download interesting talks found through random searches or app suggestions. Downloading is also much slower than with other video downloaders. Maybe low res versions of the talks could be accessible. The sound poadcast is, of course, much easier, but there are times when important references are given on the slides and videos are always more shareable than sound tracks. I hope the app will catch up soon!
Great, but not comprehensive
This app for TEDtalks will send you alerts, if you so choose, but you can't always find the talk you're being alerted to. Case in point, I got an alert yesterday for "The Terrors of Sleep Paralysis." Couldn't look at it then, so took a screen shot; today, used the magnifying-glass search function in the app to try to get it and it didn't pop up. Was it because TED-Ed is wholly separate, not in the app? I had the exact title. Just a bit surprising.
I enjoy these TEDTalks. Some are superficial but many, such as Andrew Solomon's, are deeply human.
Add Favorites Synchronization and Night Mode to remove bright white screen
** Areas for improvement: **
1. Favorites in the app need to be synced and stored online with my TED account that stores different (online only !) favorites...
2. Add "night mode" to reduce eyestrain from BRIGHT WHITE background.
Bug: opening videos from internet in TED app causes a blank / black screen
Formatted explanation for QA to reproduce bug.
Given I find a TED video online
And there is a "open in TED app" link at top of website
And I'm using iOS Safari with an iPad Air 2 with iOS 8.2
And TED app has been reinstalled
When I click to open in the TED app
And it launches the TED app
When I click to go to full screen (in TED app) the screen goes black
