Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
Do all your folder look the same? – No longer! With this little utility, you can easily put any image on top of your folder icons to make them easily distinguishable.
QuickLook is supported, so you are not limited to images alone. Drag any file in and see a rich visual representation on top of the standard folder image. Drag a folder in to set its icon – easy.
If you accidentally change a folder's icon, Telling Folders' Undo function has you covered.
What's New in Version 1.4
Fixes an issue that caused customized folder icons to appear brighter than the default ones.
This app does exactly what you'd want it to do: Make folder icons, without the icon being the entire copied image like so many other "folder icon" apps. This is incredibly handy if you have a picture folder and want to be reminded what's in it, while still retaining the typical folder look. Frankly, this is a feature that Mac should've had from day one.
My only criticism is based on the way the app works: You first have to drag a picture onto the app, then drag the folder that you want that picture to be on into the app as well. It's two steps, and that can get tiring if you have a lot of picture folders. Perhaps in future versions, there could be an option so that if you drag a picture folder to the app, it automatically selects the first picture in the folder and makes an icon out of it? And if you wanted to do it the old-fashioned way, you could just uncheck that option? Just a thought. Other than that, I have no issue with rating this app five stars. Thanks!
Only 1 complaint
My only complaint is this should have always been part of Mac OS!
Finally, I don't have to open every folder to see what's inside!
Thank you, omz!
The app Does what it says the only thing that is missing in my opinion is the option to keep telling folders on top which would make it a little easier to add pictures to a large number of folders.
