Ratings and Reviews
I bought this to help speed up decisions while I compose, as I am fairly new to theory. The problem I tend to have is remembering what the harmonic avoid notes are for each scale, and this has helped immensely. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to find things. You can do it the way they suggest, which is by interval, or if you already know the scale you can just type it in the search bar. I’ll admit if I can’t get to something within the first 5 minutes of using it I don’t generally like that piece of software. There are a great many scales here, and much more than that. For this price it’s a steal. Particularly when you consider notation software and DAWs all cost significantly more. If you’re willing to pay for sheet music, but are unwilling to pay this much for what this does you won’t be happy with anything and are probably a miserable person. Thanks for creating this amazing piece of software.
Extremely Convoluted Upon Opening
Great commercial. I was somehow convinced that I would purchase the app and be navigated through a world of exotic scales and the like. So far it’s a convoluted matrix of a LIMITED amount of scales. (so far I’m only seeing 20 scales as they relate to certain chord qualities.) When I want to start from a clean slate, it’s not possible. I wanted to look up the Symmetrical scale and at one point was shonw an Altered Symmetrical but NOT the scale I was looking for. furthermore I had to purchase it TWICE thinking buying the IOS version would also show up on my iPad like EVERY OTHER APP I own. I’m praying that some of these tutorials will sort things out or I will be asking for a REFUND for BOTH PURCHASES!! Terribly disappointed currently
Developer Response ,
ALL scales in music are in the app!! (1948) (333 sources) We put a lot of work into this app and I can assure you no scales or modes are missing. We know it is an extensive app and that might make it a bit daunting at first.
Please watch the tutorials on youtube and/or read the help provided by the app that will help you greatly. You probably have a filter selected that is only showing the scales that conform with it. i.e. If you choose to view chords then you will only see structures (scales) that are chords
To find any symmetrical scale enable the "Show Only Symmetrical Structures" checkbox. There are 37 Symmetrical scales. FYI you might know some scales by a different name (which you can also edit to label a scale using the name you often used)
Here's a link to the tutorial videos explaining the app in detail.
I hope consider editing your review if you find some of the information you shared with others can be updated after you have used the app a bit more. We appreciate any feedback, and we consider all reviews and comments for future improvements of the app, but we also need reviews to be truthful regarding what is contained in the app and what is not.
I really love this software. I have hoped for a app for like this for years. I just have one small concern that may not affect everyone, but a select group. If you would add a font enlarger capability for the Staff lines and notes. I figured how to enlarge what I needed enlarge. So I am increasing my rating for this app. It is a great app.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
