TextExpander for Mac
By SmileOnMyMac, LLC
Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
Save time and effort with TextExpander! Whether it's a simple email signature or several paragraphs of a standard response, you'll love how easy it is to use TextExpander to avoid typing the same thing over and over. Winner – 2010 Macworld Editors' Choice Award.
With TextExpander, you can define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings and images. When an abbreviation is typed, TextExpander replaces it with the full snippet.
Great for Email
Do you use different email signatures? You can easily insert your customized signatures with a few keystrokes. You can even include a photo or logo!
If you answer the same questions over and over, you can create TextExpander snippets that contain the responses you frequently use, and never have to type them out again.
Correct Your Misspellings
You can add TextExpander's autocorrection snippet groups, containing words that are commonly misspelled. If you type a misspelled word, TextExpander can automatically replace it with the correct spelling. You can even add your own frequently-misspelled words to your TextExpander snippets.
Insert Dates, Times, Special Characters and Accented Words
Insert the current time or date by typing a short abbreviation. TextExpander comes with date and time snippets built-in that you can format. You can even use TextExpander to insert a specified date in the future.
Snippets: Easy to Create, Use and Organize
It's easy to create a snippet and assign it an abbreviation. You can even create snippets on the fly, using hotkey shortcuts. If you've forgotten your abbreviation, you can easily search your snippets via the menu bar, or even have TextExpander suggest snippets based on what you've typed.
By default, TextExpander works in any program you can type in. You can also specify which programs you want TextExpander to expand in.
Snippets can be organized into groups. You can even apply different settings on a per group basis, such as excluding programs that TextExpander works in.

Blows away competition! Price worth it....
As the saying goes you get what you pay for. I'll let other users give you specific examples they use this app for...all you need to do is... First, go to the developers Web site and watch his video tutorials. Second, compare what you see to the competition. There are other apps thad do SOME of what this app does for less money. Every product category this developer enters he crushes the competition. He charges a premium...but he is an established developer with an outstanding track record. If you've bought an expensive app from a new developer that doesn't have an established Web site and several months later they have provided zero updates you will appreciate this.
1. Outstanding support backed by great video tutorials.
2. You can sync all of your snippets with the IOS version.
3. They provide free downloadable Snippet Files in different categories.
4. Developer updates often and is constantly making already great products better.
My favorite is the AutoCorrect snippets. I typed this in Pages and it automatically corrected several of my spelling mistakes. Enough said...
Great however switches text and drove me crazy
First of all I have loved this program and used it everyday. Now for the bad news: I have had this issue with typing example: I would type 1234 what really typed was 1243 and I thought I was loosing my mind then I thought it was the keyboard and apple was nice enough to swap out my usb keyboard without a question. (I love Apple) however the problem still continued. They I thought I had it beat becaue I bought Dragon Dictation. It blew my mind it did it there also then I knew it was not the hardware. I then reinstalled the operating system and it went away fixed right. No…Thats how i figured out that it was Textexpander. I just contacted "Smaile" and they contacted me right away and offered my money back or to help me trouble shoot my system. Im hoping we can figure it out together because again I love this program.
Crossing my fingers
Old version. Can’t get it to work with 10.9
I just bought text expander from the Mac app store. Seemed like it would be a great help. I am not happy with the program at all. It is an older version than is on the developer web site and I feel this was not disclosed when I bought it from the app store.
Also, I can not get the program to launch in 10.9. When launched it displays a pop up to change settings in the accessibility preference. The settings the software references are not in the 10.9 accessibility pane. I can not use this software at all. I have already deleted the software from my computer - less than 10 minutes from the time of purchase.
I do not think the app store should allow developers to offer old versions for sale regardless of the reason. I understand the “sandbox” issue but this is not a excuse for selling old software.
Also, versions for sale should work with 10.9 and have clear insructions that are consistant with 10.9.
I hope Apple will give me back the money.
