Description

"Welcome to my ... house!" Old Man Stauf built a house and filled it with his toys. Six guests were invited one night, their screams the only noise…

* We've made our companion game T7G:Infection free! If you are missing the microscope puzzle, you can get it for the iPad today! *

* Also please note that in version 7.5 of The 7th Guest it is not necessary to play the Microscope puzzle or the Piano puzzle to complete the game. *

In the world of The 7th Guest, you are an active and mysterious entity known only as "Ego". Your role, identity and purpose is not known or explained, rather, it is experienced as a seamlessly integral part of the total environment that is the Stauf mansion. Because you are looking out from within, you cannot see yourself, but your inner spirit has a voice. Listen to it.

The house of The 7th Guest is filled with 19 devilishly clever puzzles that will test your wits and scare you out of them as well. To complete the game you must solve every puzzle in the house - only then will the secrets of the madman Henry Stauf be revealed to you.

To help you get started, you might want to check out the pyramid in the lower right corner of the Sphinx board.

Not bad, but still needs work

The controls were slow to respond in some puzzles and on the save screen. At first I couldn't figure out how to choose the letters to name a game, but eventually I realized I had to hold my finger on the screen until the pyramid appeared, then aim the dot on the pyramid at the letter I wanted. However since I never saw the name I gave the save when I was loading a save, I have no idea why I was asked to name the save. The game has you load the number of the save, not the name you gave it. The only puzzle that was really impossible because of technical problems was the bishops puzzle. Not only was the response sluggish, but the moves often undid for no reason. I understand that I can't move the bishops where they can be taken, but why not be allowed to move them where it's safe? And sometimes I'd move one of the bishops and the move I'd made previously would undo itself. I'm guessing that the puzzles that were omitted may have had technical problems too difficult to solve at the time of release. I bought and played 7th Guest in April 2013 on a new iPad with retina display. I don't know if the retina display makes the game run slower. But even if it does, that shouldn't make the bishops undo legitimate moves. Despite the aforementioned technical problems, I recommend the game for 7th Guest fans.

7th Guest

I can't believe all the people complaining about things like graphics and bad acting. HELLO this is the game EXACTLY how it was in 1994 now brought to you on an iPod/iPad so you can enjoy it as you remember it. They're not gonna change it. It gives players a sense of nostalgia just how it is. And a note about the person complaining about the chess pieces moving on their own. Do you even remember playing this game when it was originally released in 1994? Because if you did play it back then, you would know that the chess pieces move on their own because THERE AREN'T ANY MOVES LEFT. They're SUPPOSED to do that. Seriously educate yourself before you start removing stars based on your own ignorance.

I myself love this game and always have. I'm glad they didn't change anything because it would feel like a different game to me if they did. I enjoyed playing it and will definitely play it again.

Overall, disappointed

I purchased this game, based on my fond memories of it as a child. I assumed the game would have been updated just a bit, in the last 20 years. I was disappointed. I cant seem to (if it's possible, I don't know how) fast forward or save my game and then end up having to start over each time and go through the opening credits ALL OVER.

You would think with today's technology, they would have taken just a bit of time to update things to make it a bit better. It feels as though this was done quickly, without thought, just to get it up, running and make some money. Any improvements expected to come?
