Fantastic game...problematic controls
This is a terrific game: beautiful artwork, great concept, fantastic replayability. But the controls are definitely frustrating. It's almost impossible to put down an item to pick up something else,(see edit below) and maneuvering can be hit or miss. I truly wish there were control options for d-pad or swipe controls so the user could choose which works best for them.
I'd also love to see them cycle through the "standard" cave sections so that there are perhaps two or three more sections, and you play different ones each time through, instead of the same three (mine, zoo, island). These can get tedious since you must play them over and over with each new set of characters.
Still giving 5 stars as the game itself makes up for all the frustration during play. Definitely should be up in the best games list.
EDIT: Dropping an item is a double click. This is incredibly useful to know. Also, I wasn't even aware that there was music in this game as there is none on mine. Sound is fine, but no music at all. Frankly, I thought it was a style choice as we are in a cave, and the echoing sounds rather match the mood, so it didn't bother me in the slightest, but just a note that there is apparently a bug where this is concerned.
His Highness Ron Gilbert
First of all, game is not broken and controls are perfectly thought. People whining about it just have no clue about video games altogether on screen buttons other than the 3 characters to switch amongst them wouldn't be as useful as the current controls. This game developed by Ron Gilbert (the master of the universe when it comes to video games) and Double Fine is wonderful, it is so much fun to play and it can be played over and over with different combinations amongst the 7 characters in the game of which you have to pick 3 each time you want to play the game again. Bought this game because I can't wait to have thimbleweed park released early 2017 and I need to play a new game I still haven't played from His Highness Ron Gilbert. If you like puzzles and have sense of humor you will just love this game.
I actually like this game, but as some people have said the iOS controls are a bit wonky. Mostly on ladders, and elevator buttons. But you kind of get used to it. I think a great addition would be the ability to skip levels that have already been accomplished, if you wish. Obviously you want to be able to play all of the levels available to the different characters. But playing through the core levels that are non-character specific more than one can be boring. I'd like to see a choice to not replay already played levels. That said, if you enjoy puzzle, adventure, exploration games, this one is good IMHO.
