"No matter how you slice The Detail, it’s just a well crafted experience that will leave a lasting impression." 4.0 / 5.0 - AppleNApps
The Detail, a crime noir adventure in a modern American city.
Controlling the actions of a bitter veteran detective investigating a brutal gangland murder and a reformed criminal trying to protect his family, the player is forced to make tough choices and deal with the resulting consequences of those moral dilemmas. The gameplay focuses on branching narrative mixed with interactive comics, and is completed by a professional audio track.
The Detail combines the emotional impact of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead with the themes of a realistic crime drama like HBO's The Wire, delivered with our own unique visual style inspired heavily by graphic novels. This is city where cases matter, clearance rates matter, and on a good day even justice matters.
- Character-driven experience with multiple playable characters
- Branching storyline influenced by the player's choices
- Mature themes for mature players
- Ethical and moral challenges

Ratings and Reviews
I bought the full game. There were no ads. Unfortunately as time went by the game went free with ads. That's not ideal for me but this is still a good game. It's a nice crime drama adventure game. If you like adventure games then you should like this one. At least the game is complete now so that's a plus. The Developers just didn't drop the game. Ads or not this is a good game.
It wasn't bad but it wasn't really good
Overall, the game wasn't terrible. However, there were things that could have made it better. Once, when trying to contact the passed out girl again, the game didn't allow the options to pop up but also didn't allow me to interact with anything else, thus making me stuck in limbo. Also, after awhile, even when I tried to make it otherwise, the game hid the ability to see my options . The characters had some depth, but it seemed as if the options were limited. Also, when confronting the gang guy, even though the character said I had other options, like the landlord and the lawyer, it didn't give those options while talking to him. The art wasn't all that great, very flash art style like newgrounds. I did like being able to play different characters, however. In the end, I wasn't left wanting to buy the second episode. There wasn't a deep enough story or any connection to the characters. You didn't feel like you made the character be one way or the other. (Like a good or bad guy) and so I didn't feel like I wanted to buy the other episodes to continue my story, rather than just following their story that I couldn't change.
Great, unique gameplay but short
The graphics (part graphic novel part video game) are gorgeous and fit the noir tone well. I also loved the storytelling device of giving you choices and seeing the story from numerous perspectives. However part 1 is relatively short for the price -I hope those who bought it already won't want to pay another $5. The idea that your choices will have consequences and affect future gameplay (recorded in the character cards and summary at the end of part 1) is intriguing but it's hard to tell at this point just how much it will affect the future.
