Have you ever sent or received a text message, email, or photo that you would like to keep “On the Downlow”? Has anyone ever stumbled across an email or photo on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod that you would not want to be seen?
You could always just delete such things as soon as they are read or seen, but that’s no fun... Now, with The Downlow, you can keep these communication discreet, private, and protected.
Using a proprietary algorithm so powerful it had to be approved by the NSA, The Downlow empowers users to conduct discreet and private text and image based communications. In addition, The Downlow solves your private storage needs with a built in Vault.
-Password Protection Option
-User Creates Own Encryption Keys
-Secure Storage of Images and Text in The Downlow Vault
The Downlow scrambles text to unreadable gibberish using an encryption key that you create
Only another user of The Downlow can unscramble it, using the encryption key it was scrambled with
Send encrypted text to Email, SMS, or the Vault
-The Downlow renders images unrecognizable
-Lock images more than once for even greater scrambling
Images can be sent to email, MMS, stored in the device photo album, stored within the “Vault”, or copied to the Pasteboard. Images can be captured from the camera (iPhone only) from within the app, loaded from the device’s saved photos, loaded from the Vault, or pasted from the Pasteboard.
Communicating between users is very simple:
Agree upon a “Key” that each user will utilize to encrypt/decrypt the content and store it in the “Keys” tab of the application
Create your text or image based communication in the appropriate section
Select the Key that will be used to scramble the image or text
Tap the “Lock” button
Send your encrypted media to the recipient.
What's New in Version 1.2.1
Fixed image encryption crashes.
Finally a Unique App...
I bought this when it first came out, and it is great. I had a few things I wanted, and they added most of it with the recent update. I like the wheel to let you choose your key, and the MMS is something that I was wanting with the first version, so thanks for that. It is very fast, and once you figure it out, it is easy to use. It would be nice if the icon was more neutral so that it wouldn't be so visible on my phone. For now I just hide it in one of those app groups, and it makes it much less obvious.
I still haven't seen anything else that comes close to this for sending pictures back and forth. That's the feature that I use the most, along with the storage vault.
UPDATE>>>THANK YOU for the discrete icon that shows only a DL. Much Much better!!!
