Inside an ordinary house, inside an ordinary room, there lives the worst sort of monster you'd ever wish to meet... the dreadful and ferocious (and sock-eating) Gobberwobbly!
But if you can catch one - which isn't too hard if you know what to do - then you will have made your Gobberwobbly a tame thing and he will love you forever and ever. Just as the boy in this story finds out for himself, sometime during that long ago daydream that is youth.
This charming tale was written and illustrated by Ice Cream's resident wizard, Kate Buss, who (as it turns out) also provides the gentle harp melodies that accompany the story. The app features numerous interactive animations and effects, all of which were designed to enhance and not muddle the reading experience.
In addition, each word will highlight itself when read (in Read-To-Me mode). When tapped, the word will highlight itself again and the narrator (Kate's very own Mom) will clearly pronounce the word to assist younger children learning to read. Pages are turned by swiping the screen and are elegantly animated in an iBooks fashion. Finally, a table of contents may be accessed at any page by touching a bookmark in the righthand corner.
For children and grandparents
My 2 year old loves this book and it has been a great introduction to the iPad for her grandparents. They explore all the interactive parts together. The music and sounds are pleasant, unlike many child apps or toys that drive parents nuts. I recommend this book highly.
Such a cute monster! My 6 year old daughter loves it, great buy for any parents(and only for $1!!!!). Keep up the good work :)
Lovely bedtime story
This is a very sweet story. The harp music and cuddly plot make it a perfect bedtime story.
