I still hate this app!

Update #2: It is Jan 3, and a new update arrived yesterday to fix bugs. I can honestly say this app is worse than it was before the update. Bugs aren’t fixed. Scrolling is abysmal. This is one of the worst apps in the App Store. Save your sanity and find another news source. This one will frustrate you with constant scrolling freezes and bugs. This is a terrible app! I hate it!

Update: I wrote a review months ago and gave this app one star for poor performance. Today I would give it less than zero stars if I could. This app is broken. The stories don’t scroll. The screen freezes when you try to do something as simple as scroll down a story or list of stories. I hate this app and I used to love it. Whoever created this version of the app should be banned from making apps for the rest of their lives. The content would be good if I could read it. Unfortunately it is an abomination. Pathetic. Lousy. Putrid. I hate this app more than stepping in dog poo. I literally would choose stepping in dog poo over trying to use this app.

Previous review: This app is not useable now because Huffington Post is embedding auto play videos in each story. Even if your mute button is turned on, the video plays, sometimes to embarrassing consequences. If you're listening to headphones, the auto play overrides the audio. This is ridiculous. Poor. One star.

Post Facebook Integration ...

As mentioned elsewheres, this app seems to get worse with every update. The comments are even more broken than they were before. They've had months to figure this out, but it's obvious their current Two Star review on this app has motivated No One on their tech team to streamline this process. Why bother merging with Facebook if you're going to reduce the functionality of the most streamlined comment/ reply system ever created? It should annoy any user of this app that there is this persistent inattention to detail from an app creator who prides themselves on user interaction.

I've never before written an App Store review, and it is time for the HuffPo iPhone app user base to publicly shame this horrible excuse for user interaction that has been employed since their mergers with AOL and Facebook. These are billion dollar companies that can't get their comments section to work in a consistent fashion. Shameful. All three of these entities call their users their reason for being, so why does hitting the delete button lock up the whole system? The fact that this has gone unaddressed for so long tells this user EXACTLY how sincere the creators of this dysfunctional app are about user integration.

Just like any corporate entity, HuffPo doesn't care what you have to say — one star.

Wish I hadnt updated

I was using an older version of the HuffingtonPost app and liked it a lot, read it multiple times daily. Then I updated to the latest version (currently 1.9.4) and really wish I hadn't. What a mess. The "Home" screen went from being really nice update of the news of the day to being a user interface atrocity. Nearly half the screen is covered by titlebars or navigation elements now. The navigation elements at the bottom are either duplicated in other places or are for rarely accessed features and shouldn't be visible all the time. The navigation element between sections (Home, Video, Entertainment, Politics, etc) is now placed incongruously at the top of the screen, with "home" duplicated at the bottom, with the whole list again duplicated on the "more" list, spells out really long section titles ("entertainment", "technology"), and requires swiping back and forth to get to the section you want. The added elements are all on screen all the time, so you feel like you're reading news through a keyhole. Just awful. These changes are all bad, maybe you were just trying to test a new approach, but once you saw how poorly done it all became in practice, the changes should have been thrown out. So the question is, why did you break this app?
