A High Quality Reading Experience
Finally! An iPad reading experience that emphasizes the story, text, and writing rather than superficial bells and whistles. Don't get me wrong, the app has a ton of extra fun interactive features, but they seem to add to the story rather than distract.
The narrator is awesome - I love his voice and all the characterizations he does for the different animals. The artwork is beautiful and I must say there were a couple of pages that actually made us gasp out loud. Gorgeous.
We've been reading this story for half an hour and we're not even done with the first chapter. This is a book to be enjoyed over the course of several sessions; it's an honest-to-goodness BOOK and not a silly toy masquerading as "reading." This is one we'll be coming back to again and again. Well done! Can't wait to get the next one.
My five year old loves it!
I downloaded this last night and was really excited about it, but there was an issue with the app launching -- luckily, this new version that they just released works perfectly!! My five year-old is completely entranced with this Jungle Book -- the illustrations are adorable and I just read the Jungle Facts to him at bedtime. Maybe this will be a new classic just like the Disney version!
The artwork and narration make this book a really fantastic adaptation - but with the fun touchable elements, it's just stunning. This is not just a throwaway 20-min 1-time app, though - plan to spend a couple of reading sessions with your little one to get through it the first time.
