Beautiful glimpse of Japanese culture. Great for the kids too!
This is a really neat story that engages both adults and kids. My 4 year old loved listening to the narrator and interacting with the endless landscape animations. It is really cool to hear the narrator pronounce words, when the element is touched by the reader. For example, my daughter loved to touch the various objects in the story, because of the interesting animation. When she touches a flower twice, the flower blooms and a piece of paper opens up with a picture of the flower and the word for the flower in Japanese. She would do this endlessly with countless objects, all the while learning a bit of the language. The story fun as well, and everything is incredibly intuitive. Even my 3 year old figured out how to move the story along. Make no mistake though. This is a great app for adults as well.
jaw-droppingly gorgeous app
I can't wait to gift this app to a student of Japanese language and culture. It is visually stunning, and for that reason alone I wish I could give it more than five stars. The interactive elements are ingenious and a person could spend hours exploring the entire story. Having said that, this is really an app for an adult, or at least at older child. My four and seven year-old, who love stories of all kinds, didn't quite make it to the end. If you're sharing this with very young children, you might wish for an adaption that had been tightened up a bit; if you're enjoying it on your own, you might want it to never end.
Great Interactive Story
This app is such a great interactive story that is engaging for children. My 4 year old was interested in the hidden flowers, buy my 6 year old was more engaged in wanting to hear and repeat the Japanese words. The details and graphics are amazing! I really like that my son can hold it and listen to the story on his own, or we can do it together and I can read it to him.
