Description

The Moth is dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. This app is the best way to listen to hundreds of stories from The Moth’s live events, its top-rated podcast, and its award-winning public radio show, “The Moth Radio Hour,” distributed by PRX and produced by Atlantic Public Media.

The app’s minimalist design focuses on the listening experience:
* Favorite stories you want to remember
* Share stories you want others to hear
* Download any story for offline listening

Moth stories span the great range of human experience. Storytellers come from all walks of life to stand in front of a live audience and tell their funny, sad, and moving stories without notes.

“It is brilliant and quietly addictive” - The London Guardian
"The performances are enthralling, funny and moving.” - The Times of London
"The most memorable and hilarious narratives… and exuberant moveable feast.” - The Village Voice

Give it a try and tell us what you think.

The Moth is supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Amazing stories but crashes a lot

I was introduced to the moth about 2 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. What an awesome way to spend time while you drive or work. I would never be able to hear stories from people from all walks of life anywhere else, or on any other platform. It's such a unique, raw and beautiful way to appreciate people. I'm always waiting for the latest podcast and it's definitely my favorite. Truly a gem everyone should take advantage of. Totally worth the 99 cents. I only wish it wouldn't crash so much. I just discovered the podcast instead so I don't have to deal with the crashing, but I'm not using the app as much. I would love to use the app but it's hard to download anything with the crashing and sometimes it won't download at all.

Great, not grand

If you love the moth podcast, but a single weekly feed isn't enough for you, then this is definitely for you. The app itself could use some serious tweaking and bug fixes to improve both stability and the UI, but neither issue is a deal breaker. Lots of reviews bring up the issue of frequent crashes, which is a problem. However, if you know this going in and treat the app with kid gloves (give it time to load/respond before rage-mashing on the digital buttons) it's not as bad as they make it sound. That said, I only cellular data-stream and let it play straight through, so maybe just follow my lead. Anyways, at $0.99 for TONS of stories updated constantly, you can't beat it.

The reason my 14 year old loves long drives

You know you're onto something good when even your pesky 14-year-old approves. Whenever we need to take car trips longer than 10 minutes my son immediately request that we turn on the moth.
In fact as soon as we get into the car he just shouts "MOTH!"
Invariably the stories bring up subjects that we might never otherwise discuss. Sometimes they are difficult subjects, sometimes they are questions about our youth, and sometimes he wants to tell a story from his only related to something he just heard.

Anyone who has ever had a teenager knows what a triumph it is to engage your teenager and meaningful conversation.

The fact that this app is so cheap continually astounds me. The quality and variety of the stories are impressive, and they just keep on coming at no charge!

More proof that the best things in life are free.
