# Fun Facts
On November 17, 1924, an editorial in The New York Times calls crossword puzzles "a primitive sort of mental exercise" and a "sinful waste" of time. Another editorial four days later predicts their swift disappearance. After Pearl Harbor, the Times becomes the last major New York daily to add the puzzle on February 15, 1942. As the first editor of the Crossword noted, "I don't think I have to sell you on the increased demand for this kind of pastime in an increasingly worried world. You can't think of your troubles while solving a crossword. . . ."
Timing sometimes inaccurate with latest update
Sometimes buggy in terms of recording my time - I'll finish a crossword, then the next time I re-open it, the timer will jump around to a new time. This has been reflected in my stats - at least one day's supposed record is several minutes off my actual time. Also sometimes if I tap on any square after I've completed the crossword, the timer will jump around a few seconds and the completion music will sound again & completion screen will pop up again as if I had just finished the crossword.
I'd like to see a "bookmark" feature in the archives - I'm working backwards through the years, but often also want to see the current month, so I frequently switch between the current month and a month from years ago. It would be great to bookmark the archived month I was working on to more easily access it.
Other than those issues, I love this app. Love that crosswords are ready at 7pm PST, enjoy all the stats (the only other stat I'd like to see is the number of completions broken down by each day of the week). The pencil option is so helpful, and the controls are easy to use - since I downloaded this app, I haven't considered trying to solve with paper and pen because the digital experience is great.
Very buggy today
Normally if it such a bad review and a low rating however since this morning the app seems to be not functioning properly. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any other place to airport problem for access apps support. Every morning I am not able to enter any letters into the grid. If I try to clear the puzzle even though it's already blank it still does not help. I can usually type one or two letters and then they disappear. Even the answers I that I did get in this morning before the app seemed to stop working disappeared. I have tried restarting my phone and closing out the app several times and yet I still cannot complete a puzzle which kind of defeats the entire purpose of this app. I'm very disappointed .
Some good some Really Bad
I have become addicted to doing the daily puzzles, and I mostly like the user interface. But there are two things driving me crazy.
1. After anything more than just a few seconds, opening the app brings me back to the main subscription page, rather than the puzzle in progress.
2. Restore Purchases ALWAYS FAILS on my second iPad. Part of the good of having the subscription is getting the puzzles synced across devices. This works great for the puzzle packs I bought, but I cannot get it to work for the daily puzzles do to Restore Purchase failing every time.
