The Sampler by Converse
By Converse, Inc.
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
We'll keep this simple. We like to try things out. It's the only way we'll ever really know what works. We created The Sampler so you can try things on. The Sampler transforms Converse on to your feet in seconds. If you like what you see, you can buy it right there on the spot. It's as simple as that. Try it out. Try something on. Have fun.
What's New in Version 1.0.2
- iOS 4.3 fixes with camera view
Interesting, though broken as hell.
So I open the app, the shoes flip past, there's the echo of a guitar... Very clean and fun design, but of course if you ask me that's a minimum standard it seems when I comes to Converse, the website especially. But aside for that, this app has literally nothing to it. It crashes as soon as you select "try it on" just as consistently (if not more so) than exiting the app manually. And a selection of eight shoes is just ridiculous. And half of them are classic chuck Taylor high-tops so there's even less of a choice. This was a good idea, but if you don't plan on fixing it then I get the feeling reaching out to apple at all is a waste of time.
The disadvantage you (Converse, Inc.) have as a product though is that possible customers that only use idevices can't even access your website because it's entirely flash. (By the way, apple: you should make friends with adobe. I'm sure you guys will get along if you try) because of this, an in-app experience similar to your website could be nothing but an asset.
Sorry this is so long, I have a bad habit of being overly-verbose.
Crashes (and an idea)
I really love converse (like, a lot) but every time I try to try on a shoe it kicks me out (just like a lot of the other reviews). I'm sure if this app worked it'd be awesome!
(I also have an idea for a new app!)
If the converse Inc. Is reading this...I would like to give an idea for a new app. Just like on your website you have a 'create your own' (I was on it just today and designed a few converse and loved it! I'm definitely making more and going to buy them!) so I think there should be an app like that! It'd be really cool! lol just throwing that out there!
Not many options
I was hoping for some options. Since the web page is completely broken on 3 different browsers I was hoping to be able to buy through the phone. So given that there are hundreds of shoes I can't see on the website because it can't switch to the second page or search options why are there only 16 on the app? I don't need to try them on with the silly photo thing. I just need to be able to see what's available in half sizes so I can buy some shoes.
