All-around terrific adventure game

This game is a fantastic adventure game filled with great story, good puzzles, and the funniest acting I have heard in a game. It had me laughing out loud on many occasions. The game itself is filled with puzzles ranging from easy to rather difficult, but most are just right giving you an excellent feeling of satisfaction when you figure them out. If you get stuck, just shake your device for a hint.

I actually did not have a problem with the cursor/pointer system, as many others have stated. I got used to it rather quickly and ended up really liking it. You can control the cursor from anywhere on the screen so I could point in an area where my finger wouldn't cover up something important.

The one problem I had with the game was what I considered to be a bug. I don't know if it is because I played things out a little strangely, but there is one point where something (don't want to spoil things too much here) is supposed to follow you. I did all the right things and got text that the thing was following me, but when I moved around the island, I was all by myself. I eventually had to head back near the beach and then the 'something' caught up with me. I actually stopped playing for awhile because I could not get past this part, but just picked it back up last night and was able to finish the game.

Highly recommend this game for adventure game fans, or even just for the wonderful humor.

EEEARGH!! Mother's love, tis a foin port ya safe-harbored the series into!!

Great work on bringing the series to mobile! The voice casting and direction complement the "pirateyness" of it all spectacularly.

The graphics, too, are reverently updated with finesse. Wonderful to see new light on old artwork. On a future (hopefully not-too-distant) update I'd expect the graphic pixel dimensions to be increased to scale to the higher resolution displays now available.

Very happy the original (?) MIDI music is still available in Classic mode.

Need to be able to store the "Subtitles in Special Edition" Off/On selection in the Settings menu.
• Currently has to be set each session of the game.

Need to be able to turn off all hints.
• Hint activation happens inadvertently while playing / lounging. The last thing I need is being spoiled on the one big puzzle I'm enjoying the work to solve.

Need some other manner of getting to the main menu besides rotating the device;
• Rotating the device happens inadvertently while playing / lounging.
• Also if rotation is turned off as a general iOS preference for the device, rotation is never sensed to activate the main menu.

Makes me hope Lucasarts gets all their SCUMM games on the iPhone!

This game is remarkable. They took a classic game, polished it up with new graphics and voice actors for every role, and remade all the music to sound rich and real (as opposed to the Soundblaster MIDI tunes we used to get). The interface is not really all that different from the original, except that the screen is now the mouse/touchpad as well. The result is a game that is an excellent example of what can be done on the iPhone OS. My iPod touch will get hours of use thanks to this game alone! It also provides a lot of incentive for me to beg Lucasarts to release their other SCUMM games-- Improved graphics or not-- on the iPhone. I would slap down the cash for an iPod touch version of Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, and especially Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, among others. I really hope Lucasarts classics (and other point-and-click adventures) get released, because this is a worthy platform for them. Bravo to Lucasarts for not only bringing back the classic, but bringing it back new & improved, with a lot of love and care. They really impressed me with this release.
