The best training app just got better. In addition to improved stability and performance, the latest version of the app for iOS, Windows, and macOS boasts a SUF-load of new features.
*Elite, Tacx, and JetBlack smart trainer owners rejoice! We’ve expanded smart trainer control over Bluetooth for iOS and macOS to include all Tacx and Elite smart trainers, as well as the JetBlack WhisperDrive Smart. This allows the iOS and macOS versions of the app to automatically adjust the resistance of the trainer to match your power targets when you connect over Bluetooth.
*Do you use Final Surge or Today’s Plan to manage and track your training? Now you can link your accounts and instantly sync your Sufferfest activities to these platforms.
*We gave the video list a facelift to improve the way you navigate, sort, and filter videos so you can spend less time searching and more time getting faster.
*We’ve added support for the new Wahoo Fitness KICKR CLIMB, allowing the app to control the angle of the CLIMB to match the grade in our climbing videos.
*Improved device connections via BTLE.
*Improved the stability and integrity of device connections via ANT+.
*Fixed the reporting of speed data from power devices connected via BTLE.
Ratings and Reviews
Ok if everything you own is a 2017 model
Want to use older MacbookPro so I can just leave it all set up on my trainer and not have to mess around with it every morning - nope, not supported!
OK - I'll download Google Chrome - too old, not supported! Same with Firefox!
OK - I'll use Apple TV - nope, not supported!
OK - I'll use my iPhone and Screen Mirror - nope, need to purchase a $70 dongle!
OK - I'll use W10 pc - total pain in the a**e because I use this for work so will need to reconnect every day. Ordered ANT+ - still connecting devices after unplugging and plugging in ANT+ 2765 times (even though my cadence and HR are showing on the screen), guess I need to now order a USB extension (I live in the sticks).
By the time I have everything hooked up the 7 day trial will be finished, I could have changed my trainer tyre 100 times and the seasons will have changed enabling me to go outside and cycle.
I am sure if you have a few thousand $ to spend on a fantastic trainer or if you are someone that runs to the Apple Store to purchase the latest iPhone on release then this app is great - but for me, it's useless!
Pain (and love) through suffering
I have been using the app on and off for years. I will say that the latest version is by far the best training app that I have seen out there. It integrates so much across just about every platform. It also works well with Garmin, Strava, training peaks and just about everything else out there. The developers and creative folks behind this app truly make it a fun and worthwhile experience… Even through the pain!!! Oh the pain.
Love the 4DP
I wasn’t sure about trying Sufferfest, but already after 2 days, I was sold :).
The 4DP test is brutal but awesome, nothing like any other FTP out there. The structured workouts are great. The guidance, comments and music are second to none.
I would like to see a way of selecting 2 workouts beforehand so I don’t have to stop.
I only have the Cycleops Fluid2 but I see how a smart trainer will put this at a hole different level.
Looking forward to another Sufferfest later this evening.
