Description

This free ten-part enhanced comic is set in Victorian Manchester and demonstrates the extraordinary parallels between the Internet Age and the Telegraph Age. Beautifully realised, and scripted by Leah Moore and John Reppion, the story weaves around the exciting lives of the young women and men working at The Electrical and International Telegraph Company and tackles 21st Century issues such as gang culture, cyber bullying, coming out and on-line flirtations! The Thrill Electric also features stunning animations, loads of contextual information, and a secret code that unlocks a hidden storyline. Produced by Hat Trick Productions for Channel 4 education.

A neat little story

I found this while browsing the app store for graphic novels. It is very large (3.4Gb) but it is complete. Each volume is 15 pages very well drawn and semi-animated. Some panels even include thoughts from the characters or video events. The stories told are quite good and I found myself feeling sorry for characters on occasion, and smiling when others got what they worked so hard for.

Ultimately this book could be used to open up discussions about many topics with younger teenagers.

4 stars for story and providing a complete experience. I knocked one off because occasionally I became confused about who was who in the telegraph company because several of the women dress similar/have same hairstyles so it is sometimes difficult to understand what is going on.

Huge disk space hog

I appreciate making a graphic novel available for free for iDevices. But I had a couple issues. First, the app would not launch on my iPhone 3GS although it is listed as compatible. And second, the app is HUGE! Over 3 gigabytes, not the 500 megs listed on here. Maybe the app should have come out in volumes?
