Terrible words, don't waste your time with this one

This app is incredibly disappointing. The only positive aspect to it is the inclusion of a list page that allows you to go back and view previous words. Unfortunately, that's where anything good about the app ends.

The most important part - the words - are absolutely abysmal. They aren't properly defined like in dictionary, but instead come across as though someone was trying to explain a new word to a friend.

With each word, all you get is the part of speech (most are nouns) and a bad definition or two. An overwhelming number of the words are useless & unlikely to be used in everyday conversation, written or verbal. Words are frequently labeled "archaic" or "obsolete" - why would I want to learn words that are of no use to me?

Most disappointing is the repulsive attempt they make at humor/being culturally relevant. Words often reference a movie or recent event. In the past month Back to the Future, the new James Bond movie, and the Alien movie series have been mentioned. I see enough of them everywhere else - including them in this app just comes across a bit pathetic.

Save your time and don't download this app. I'm deleting it today and finding another, it's been given a few months of chances and never ceases to disappoint.

Great informative app

I love learning new words everyday, and the app does do what it's name implies, however I do have a couple ideas on how to better this application. My main issue is that the words are almost never used in a sentence. This wouldn't bother me as much if none of the words ever had accompanying sentences to further explain the meaning of the "WOTD", but some (a very small few) words actually do have explanatory sentences while the majority do not. It's not like we can't look these things up on our own, but the whole point of this app is to give the users full comprehension of a brand new, previously unknown, word. So, all in all, good app but could use some tweaking.

Bad App, Bad Words, Great Design

If you aren't interested in reading the details: the app has a good design is can be helpful but gives outdated words, doesn't work without data.

Bad App: when given a word every day it only comes with a definition of it and not a sentence of it, synonyms and things like that. It also only works when your using data or wifi which makes it much less convenient. I couldn't use it while traveling.

Bad Words: the words that the app gave were terrible. At least half the words I got were extremely outdated and even my 60 year old dad with a large vocabulary said he has never used it.
In addition the app often would give me three or more word phrases which isn't what I was looking for. The name of the app is slightly misleading because it not only gives words but also phrases.

Great Design: the app looked very appealing in a visual sense and was neat and simple. It also gave me a timer so that it would remind me to check the word of the day which was helpful. It would also let me save the words given to me each day to a storage board where I could see all of them.
