Description

A simple Theremin application. Tilt the iPhone right to increase pitch, tilt left to decrease. A helpful keyboard display tells you what note you're currently playing. Touch the screen to mute, allowing staccato effects. Therematic has a linear mapping of angle to pitch, giving it a consistent, easy to learn response.

Super musical - fun to play!

I've been a music teacher for over 15 years, and I've recently bought several apps that I thought I could use in class or in lessons. This one is by far the best one! My students are already able to play simple songs on it after only using it for a few minutes. The four octave range makes it extra fun to play along with other instruments. (By the way, some other reviewers obviously don't know what an octave is because this app CLEARLY has four full octaves!) I like that you can see what note you're playing, but it sounds better if you just do it by ear without looking at the notes. Of the theremin apps available, this is really the only one that you can play actual songs with. The others might have a few fun sound effects, but this one is a true musical instrument. I can't wait to try it out with all of my classes and private students!

Theremin fun......great 1.0

This is a fascinating new take for and iPhone app. While it doesn't mimic a real theremin, it does offer a fun challenge to produce melody that sounds similar to a real theremin. Other reviewers stated it only played one octave, but that is not the case. Continuing to rotate iPhone raises or lowers the pitch into further octaves. Unfortunately, you can't see the screen to check your pitch as you hyper-rotate the iPhone, but you're not going to play much music in Therematic that would require such exactness. I'm looking forward to further versions. Give it a try, folks. It's got a nice challenge to it...and it's only $0.99,

Simple and Fun!

The utter simplicity of this app actually makes it more fun to play... With no waveform settings to muck about with, you'll spend more time mastering the "instrument". If you're thinking of buying, what you can't preview is the sound... it's a pure tone, probably just a sine wave. When played, it reminds me of a child's plastic flute. They keyboard is great for learning, but as you gain skill you'll want to ignore it and play by the feel of your hand position instead.
