HERE’S HOW THINGS WORKS

If you’re new to Things, this is the basic workflow:

1. Collect Your Thoughts
Get things off your mind quickly with Things’ action extension – it lets you create to-dos from other apps. Or just talk to Siri on any device (“Remind me to...”) and import from Reminders.

2. Get Organized
Create a project for each of your goals, then add the steps to reach them. For clarity, add structure with headings. Then group your projects by areas of responsibility, such as “Family”, “Work”, or “Health”. Review these regularly to stay on top of things.

3. Plan Your Time
See your calendar events alongside your to-dos and plan your time effectively. Create repeating to-dos for things you do every few days, weeks, or months – Things will remind you on the right day.

4. Make the Most of Your Day
Every morning, grab a coffee and prepare your list for “Today”: review previously planned to-dos and make quick decisions on what to tackle. Pick some more steps from your projects and then get going. The Today list is the only place you’ll need to look for the rest of the day.

5. Customize Your Workflow
Use tags to categorize your to-dos or add context. For example, tag places like “Office” or “Home”, or tag all your “Errands”, or everything you’re working on with “Kate”. You can easily find everything you’ve tagged via filtering or search.

HERE’S WHY WE THINK YOU’LL LOVE THINGS

1. It stays out of your way.
As you start using Things, you’ll quickly notice how seamlessly all the features fit together to give you an uncluttered, focused experience. There are no unnecessary frills. No pointless gimmicks or useless controls. In fact, you’ll hardly notice the app – it’s just you and your to-dos.

2. Everything revolves around your to-dos.
In Things, each of your to-dos are special. In a list, they simply show a checkbox and the title of your to-do. But when you open them, they extend into a beautiful white piece of paper that’s ready to hold your thoughts. Additional details (checklists, tags, reminders, deadline) are nicely tucked away in the corner until you need them.

3. It’s got a touch of magic.
Things removes friction in magical ways. Take the new Magic Plus Button that lets you insert to-dos at any place in a list – simply via drag and drop. Or the ease at which you can multi-select and operate on many to-dos at once. Or the natural language date parser: just type “tomorrow”, “in 4 days” or “next Wednesday” and it will jump to all the right conclusions.

4. It’s got all the power of iOS.
Things is fully integrated with all the latest iOS technologies: Calendars, Siri & Reminders, Today Widget, Slide Over, Split View, Keyboard Shortcuts, Action Extension, Handoff, and Notifications.

5. And much more...
Everyone’s got their favorite feature, it’s impossible to list them all. See what our users love about Things – visit our website at: thingsapp.com

Customer Reviews

Very impressed

I've been using OmniFocus for several years on iPhone, iPad and a little on desktop...so quite the investment. Before that Todo by Appigo with sporadic attempts to use pervious versions of Things. In the old versions of Things I just couldn't get beyond a few missing features but especially a way to organize tags to my tastes. When I happened to check out Things 3 on the iPhone AppStore I took a few days to pull the trigger since I really have no major issues with OmniFocus. I finally downloaded it, got started setting it up and immediately got hooked and bought the iPad version too. It hits pretty much ALL my needs. Love the UI. Love the swiping to move things around and the ability to completely organize tags which I'm mainly using to assign contexts and priorities. I'm a week or so in now and think it will suit my needs pretty much perfectly. Notifications by location would be nice, but please don't bother if it is fixed to a tag (context) like OmniFocus. It needs to be assignable by task to be of use to me.

Great job. Keep the updates coming.

Perfection

I have tried all the todo apps you can think of, and Things has always been the best. As a user of Things 2 since 2014, I have been eagerly awaiting Things 3. It is everything I hoped for and more. It has all of the features that made v2 great, as well as some new ones that make it much better.

The main concept is still wonderful, the Today list. You pick the tasks you want to complete today, drag them in any order, and go about your day. It works great, always has and always will. The Scheduled list in Things 3 has become Upcoming, in which you can actually plan your days ahead for the next week as well as the future months and years. It works great, as in Things 2 you couldn’t set the specific order of what you wanted to do the next day. Similarly, the Next list has become Anytime, which also works well.

Projects have received a major overhaul that greatly increases productivity. The nice little progress indicator circles are a great addition, as well as the inclusion of Headings, to group your todos in any way you want inside a project.

Finally, the main aspect of Things 2 that I didn’t like was the lack of reminders, which is now included in Things 3! It works wonderfully. Additionally, more feature parity has been brought to the applications. For exampe, duplicating tasks and making existing tasks repeat were only possible on Mac; they are both now also possible on iOS.

To conclude, this is a great app and I would recommend it to anybody.

Thank you ! What I've been checking the App Store weekly for 5 years for

Things 3.0 is what I've been checking the App Store weekly for the past 5+ years. When I pull the productivity category or search "to-do", there are very, very few that don't have a little cloud beside them. (Including Things 2, sorry culteredcode, but you knew this or we wouldn't have Things 3).

I know this took the team there much longer to create than expected, but I thank you, as sincere a thank you as I've ever given, for sticking with it and bringing this to us. It has been life changing already.

There's not a "minus" to offset the +'s. Can't set location based reminders - but location based reminders put into iOS reminders don't import to Things so that's handled. Url's don't open on iPhone and iPad - so I'll copy and paste into safari for my Evernote references. Definitely not deal breakers given the unbelievable simplistic beauty and functionality of this app.
