A second chance...
I tried Thrive Market a couple years ago, and after a few shipments, I gave up on it. I live part of the year in an out of the way rural location, and am unable to purchase the healthy organic whole food and household items available at Thrive- even at the larger supermarket in the larger town 40 minutes away. But two years ago Thrive was shipping from a California warehouse to my Michigan location, and the shipments took two weeks to get and the boxes arrived so badly damaged that the food inside was damaged. In addition, trying to navigate the website to place an order was your basic nightmare- painfully slow, would jump back to the beginning of an item list every time I looked at an item, crashes, etc. But NOW- the app works like a dream, is well designed and organized-very user friendly. I was offered a nice discount to reactivate my membership, and have just placed my first order. (Two years ago I was told by customer service that they were going to be getting an Eastern warehouse up and running, so I’m hopeful that has happened- we’ll see.) I really like the idea of Thrive Market and want so much to be able to use it, support it, recommend it, and have it help me keep my pantry stocked. I figure everyone deserves another chance, and if the dreamy online shopping experience is an indication of what I can expect from a new and improved shipping service, I will be happily shopping regularly! Cheers to second chances!
Great app minus censoring of relevant reviews
I love this app! The prices are amazing, the selection gets better and better every day. The free gifts are FABULOUS! I have several staple items that I buy all the time now that I originally got as a free gift. I wouldn’t have tried them at all before but since thrive sent them as a free gift, I tried them and now buy them from thrive all the time! customer service is top notch! Shipping is fast and free on orders over $49
My only issue is thrive has hired a third party company to manage their reviews and this company is very weird about what they will post. I have submitted several relevant completely appropriate reviews on products and they never make their way onto the thrive website. I’m not sure why this company censors the reviews to this extent but it makes me not trust any of the reviews on thrive. The ones that weren’t posted were negative but like I said, completely appropriate. I just described what I didn’t like about the product. Does this mean they now also hold back a good review so that the grading system is fair? So I simply just don’t even pay attention to the reviews. Overall still love this app and company!
I was very excited when I read in the description that it is possible to filter products viewed by things like, gluten free, vegetarian/vegan, and dietary needs. I downloaded the app to find that you can only filter by one or the other of a handful of static categories. It is not possible to combine categories. In my household there are gluten and wheat allergies, nut allergies, dairy and soy allergies and more. Mostly I have to buy meat and whole fruits and vegetables. However, the industry is expanding to include options for people with such allergies and it would be great to be able to find them more easily instead of spending hours reading labels in the grocery store. I thought this was the answer to my prayers, but it isn’t the way it is currently set up. If the filters could be set-up hierarchically (i.e. I could customize it with nuts being primary, then gluten, then dairy, etc) and multiple items excluded, that would be the answer to my prayers. I’m sure it’s great for people who just eat GF or whatever, but doesn’t solve the bigger dilemma. Will keep an eye out for updates that might go this direction, though!
