The underlying teaching principle for this application is to help children connect the concepts of digital and mechanical clocks. A child manipulates either the mechanical/analog or the digital clock using simple gestures and observes the effect on the other clock. The on-demand narration allows even the children with rudimentary understanding of numbers to purposefully use Tick Tock Clock. The subtle audio and visual ornaments entertain the child and provide for more appealing and engaging learning environment without obscuring the core education value of the application.

Nice app for learning to tell time
In Tick Tock Clock, there are three modes to choose from - Learn, Practice and Word Problems. In the settings tab, you can set the minute hand step in increments of 1, 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. In the word problem mode you can also add complexity with needing to add/subtract minutes to find the time..."in 15 minutes it will be 5 o'clock". Clocks can also vary from analog using Roman or Arabic numerals, digital, and to not having a numbered reference (in Learn and practice modes only). Correct answers Pop a bubble containing a dinosaur with a pleasing verbal reinforcer. Wrong answers give a failed response of suddenly sinking your dinos and disappointing verbal feedback. There is a summary sheet after completing a round of questions - good for collecting data. This is a good time teaching app for beginning readers. Links to other apps are discreetly placed in the settings section. My only complaint is that I would probably leave out the negative verbal response for wrong answers, and there is an annoying slurping sound when the game is left unattended.
Both of my kids like this app. The older one uses it as an assistant when doing homework and the younger one loves the colors and the dinos. Little girl's voice is a nice touch.
Thank you for adding the quiz mode.
One of my favorite apps
My son has apps that he likes better, but this one still keeps him busy for few minutes and helps me teach him something.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
