*Edit: I am pining away waiting for the god damned SECOND of the total of 4-5 episodes. What they really should have done was release both episode one AND two at initial launch. At the either $3.99 or $4.99 price point (can't remember) the amount of content was absolutely embarrassingly abysmally lacking...although not quite as disgustingly short as Guardians of the Galaxy Telltale just shat into existence...shame shame. I digress. If thats not enough, after maybe a week, I think even less...they hiked up the price to $6.99....which I would have no problem with except....THE CURRENT VOLUME OF CONTENT IS BARELY BEYOND A TUTORIAL. Sigh....the cherry on top is that they have been green lighting on steam ever since the mobile launch. They have been almost completely unresponsive for the mobile fan base, but very active on their steam green light forum. I hounded them about schedule and roadmap etc and they say they want to get it up on PC so they can release the future episodes simultaneously. I really hope my worry is unwarranted and once released on steam the episodes will flow out quickly. I reeeeally wish devs would focus on the original fan base and platform they release a product on before going elsewhere, I dont blame they at all for wanting to make a living....I would never, but one reaps what's sewn. We shall see I s'pose.....some day.
My new fave game on the IPad
I am not usually inclined to write game reviews. This is a rare exception. I am enamored with this game. Because of nerve damage, some of the games on the iPad are cumbersome to play for me, so I tend to only play board games and games like "The Room". "Ticket to Earth" is a perfect game for me.
After watching Fahey play it on Kotaku, I had to give it a shot. I have not been disappointed. While mechanically it is super simple... just trace a line and tap once, the execution and planning is where it all counts. By enabling power trees, weapon upgrades and skill sets, it combines the fun part of mmo's and RPGs with a jewel matching game resulting in something incredibly unique and charming. Not to mention it actually has a compelling story, character classes and a way to get the standard 3 star ratings per puzzle level ala "Angry Birds". If you like games that make you plan your actions and design your character powers, this is a great one.
You can play for 5 minutes in the waiting room at the dentist, or for 3 hours on the couch at home. I truly hope to see more and more content get released for this. It is now my favorite non-board game (though it kind of is a board game too).
Great game, one control issue
I'm really enjoying the game play and the story so far! My only complaint is the movement controls -- "release to move" means that frequently, when I'm trying to undo a path or made a path mistake, I end up executing it instead because my finger lost contact with the path. This has led to a lot of really frustrating "mistakes" that didn't have to happen, and with only two actions, it's a pretty big issue. A "confirm to move" or tapping your path again to execute would fix this issue, and mean that any mistakes I made would be my own, not the game's mis-reading of my input.
