Ticks are both a human and animal nuisance and human health risk because they transmit diseases like Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and others in the US. TickID provides basic information that may be helpful as a first step in tick identification of those most important in human health, especially in the eastern US, information about the diseases they transmit to humans, how to remove ticks as safe as possible, what precautions should be taken when exposed to ticks and links to additional information about ticks.

Where is Bartonella?

While I appreciate this app and will recommend it, I do not like the links to the CDC's info on Lyme testing and treatment. 3-4 weeks of antibiotics is not enough to eradicate the bacteria or co-infections, especially if not diagnosed promptly, and thecCDC admits their ELISA test is highly inaccurate. The Western Blot is more sensitive. Also, you did not include Bartonella as a co-infection. NC State is the top University in the US studying that right now, and have one of the best labs, Galaxy, testing for it in Durham.

I love having this app handy on hiking/fishing trips. I find ticks crawling on me and my dog occasionally and using this app as a reference always puts my mind at ease. The guys at NC State Entomology have delivered once again!

Great App!

It's simple, straight forward and provides quality information about a potentially life threatening pest. Great job guys!
