I have not once ever wrote a review for an app but felt inclined to write one for this. I have been using tinder over the last year or so and have loved the app but now it's almost pointless to have. Why punish all your loyal users and make them pay a ridiculous $9.99 monthly subscription? I can see paying a one time fee that's reasonable but not monthly and not for that much. The passport and rewind feature are nice concepts and if you want to charge extra for those features I have no problem with that but why limit the amount of likes you can now do?! If you are going to limit them then at least make the wait time something way less than 12 hours before you can like again. Lots of girls on here probably have hundreds of guys liking them. So what happens now if the girl uses up their likes for the day and you end up liking them. When are you ever going to show up on their page? Days or weeks later or even never? I would rather put up with numerous ads on here instead of being limited on how many likes I get in a 12 hour period. Tinder is only going to go downhill from here if this is how it's going to be. How many people are actually going to pay this monthly subscription? Maybe 5-10% of the users? Is that really worth it?? Leave tinder how it used to be and don't limit the likes and then go ahead and charge extra to those who want the passport and rewind feature or else tinder will lose more and more users daily and will never be the same!
From 5 to 2 in a single update
I used to love this app completely. It was revolutionizing the way that young adults could meet others by providing a quick, easy platform. Due to how quickly it grew, it even evaporated much of the stigma attached to meeting someone online. However, ever since the update nearly a month ago, it has dropped from revolutionary to an abysmal disappointment.
In order to "restore" yourself to the old version, you must now pay $10/mo. This is a disappointment in many ways. First, the only added value beyond what we originally had comes in the form of being able to reverse an accidental left swipe and to be able to swipe in other locales. The former should have been a free update while the latter is the only added value since the transition to the freemium platform (emphasis on the "premium" part).
The transition is most damning because tinder is ultimately a social market. By artificially limiting the number of potential matches, you're only pushing your customers to use other apps (OkCupid, PoF, etc.). The rate of people leaving the app will be exponential as the reason to stay was directly correlated to the volume of users. This app will die rapidly.
From a financial standpoint, this app would have fared better to have used ads or partnering with the annoying bots that this update managed to stave away for... A few days or weeks?
I knew this would happen.
What used to be a free app to see any locals wanting some love or just new friends, made the terrible decision to turn to the dark side of the AppStore; being a freemuium app. You know, those apps that are free but if you wanna have more fun you have to pay to get cool features than you already have. This app was simple, think someone is attractive or someone you'd be friends with? Swipe right. Don't? Swipe left. Now it's, "oh, you wanna keep swiping right? Ok. That'll be $9.99 please." The hell kinda joke is that? The features aren't even worth it. Why would I wanna match with people around the world when I can meet locals? Yeah ads are annoying, but I wouldn't pay to get them off my app play. Unlimited likes???? Isn't that the point of this app? To swipe right how ever many times you want? The only thing I think would even be worth a cent is the the rewind your swipe. But definitely not $9.99, that's just wrong. Tinder used to be such a great app; it was plain and simple swiping but no, now we gotta make it cost money for it to be more fun. Do not get this app, it's pointless now. Unless you wanna blow $9.99 a month to just ️swipe whenever you want. It's like if facebook charged you 9 bucks if you wanted to post a lot of status' or pictures. Bottom line; this app is pointless. I knew this was comming and I hope this doesn't last long. If it does, I'm deleting this app.
