How Tinder works:
1. Tinder shows you interesting people you should meet.
2. Swipe right to like and left to pass on each recommendation (your swipe is anonymous).
3. If you like someone, and they like you back, you're both notified that it's a match! You can chat with your matches inside of Tinder.
Tinder is - and always will be - free. If you choose to unlock some new features with Tinder Plus, such as Passport (swipe anywhere in the world) and Rewind (bring back your last swipe), you can purchase optional Tinder Plus packages as an in-app purchase starting at $1.99/month. If you choose to purchase Tinder Plus, payment will be charged to your iTunes Account, and your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Auto-renewal may be turned off at any time by going to the user's iTunes Account Settings after purchase. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during the active subscription period. If you don’t choose to purchase Tinder Plus, you can simply continue using Tinder for free.
What's New in Version 4.4.6
Have met a lot of great people, and not just for hookups
I'm a woman who uses tinder at home and also when traveling. I've met a boyfriend, drinking buddies (while abroad) and plenty of other cool, attractive men through this app. I simply see it as a way to meet people I might not otherwise, who are out of my social circle or the like. Have there been bad dates too? Sure - but that's life.
Tinder gets a bad rap as an app purely for sex or something. I personally thought it was like the straight Grindr when I first heard of it. But women and straight people tend to be different and really almost no one has approached me in that way. Some people want casual hookups but the majority want to get a drink, a meal, a coffee, etc and see how things go. Numerous friends of mine have met their serious significant others off tinder. And almost everyone I've encouraged to use it has been really glad they did. So there you go. Get over any stigma you have towards online dating and meet some people!
This application clearly demonstrates personality only goes so far. What better way to save yourself the hassle of blind dating. Tinder filters your market based on simple parameters and focuses on attraction before compatibility. It pulls interests from Facebook without you spending countless hours building a profile and is absolutely free. It generates new "leads" based on your current market/location and you can take a break whenever you'd like.
BUT I also see plenty of the same faces flipping through Tinder and you're constantly running into spam bots posing as actual women, luring you to explicit websites. While it definitely gives you the whole pick of the litter for the more conventional folks out there you'll definitely run into plenty of bad eggs before swiping right. If you're one of the lucky ones, your picks will swipe right too and you'll actually have a chance to connect exclusively. Advice, swipe right more often than not unless you've got the luck of the gene pool.
Simply the best
Tinder nailed it with their minimalist approach. Profiles require very little setup (a few pics and maybe a sentence about yourself); filters include only sex, age, and distance; and you can only express interest in another person in one way (no winking or favoriting). While most other apps offer many more features, I've found those other features to simply add confusion.
Only being able to send/receive message from mutual matches was also a great innovation. As a guy, on other apps I would stress over who to send messages to. Knowing she at least liked my pics enough to swipe right removes a lot of that stress.
"But wait!", you say, "I want to filter potential dates on race/hair color/number of fingers." Turns out you can swipe left on people that don't match your filter very quickly (I've achieved speeds of 4 per second when I was in top form). And, every so often there is an amazing person that wouldn't have survived your filter that you swipe right on. Also, if something less visually obvious is important to you it's easy to put that in your profile and lead with it in a conversation after you match: "Hey, I swiped right because you have a cute smile. I'm a devout Fillintheblankist and that's important to me, are you one too?"
Tinder only gets 4 stars, though, because of some minor bugs and their discriminatory pricing policy.
