7 Plus / mini 4, iOS 10.x
Great port with a few minor issues that do not affect gameplay significantly. This full port of the ARPG titan comes with 40-60 hours of hacking, slashing, and questing. Titan Quest is an absurd value at just under $7. Not my usual genre, but I was drawn in by the title's backstory. Ended up being a real treat. Now...why wasn't this an App Store feature or Editor's Choice? Hope to see the expansion content down the road. Paying a premium for such content as DLC would be a pleasure. If these experiences are to continue (instead of free-to-play and freemium models), then those of us who prize variety have to support developers who share our interests.
Constructive criticisms: (1) iCloud saving and syncing needs work; (2) characters should not attempt to pick up loot during combat (note: there is a toggle one can disable, but that's not the most intuitive approach; and (3) if possible, I would like to see framerates improve on some compatible devices, as it is my hope that this title has a long, successful run on the App Store. The studio behind the original went under after its initial release. ***EDIT: Thanks for the continued support, DotEmu. iCloud syncing, pets, and a few other items need a final bit of polish.
iPhone 7 user- nothing but good experiences so far
Been playing for a couple hours now and I've been having a hell of a good time. Controls work extremely well on the touch screen. Even the inventory management feels good, since you can "pinch" the screen and zoom in on the inventory screen and such. Feels very natural.
The biggest criticism I see leveled at this game is the frame rate and hitching. I'm happy to report that on the newer iPhone 7, this does not appear to be an issue. I'm pretty sensitive to low frames, and this fees very smooth. There is definitely some hitching moving from zone to zone though, and you'll see, for example, a hiccup crossing the first bridge of the game out to your first few combat encounters. But within a specific area it runs buttery smooth with no problems.
I'll update as I play more if I feel like I need to, but really, if you're looking for a Diablo-like game on the iPhone and you hate how almost all of them are freemium games, then you really can't go wrong with Titan Quest.
Very good game, very underrated, minor and major bugs however
This game to me is very nostalgic. Its set in a huge world and is probably one of the most underrated games on the app store. The gameplay is challenging, enemy variety is huge, bosses are fun, loot is plentiful, and the world is huge, taking you across ancient Greece, Egypt, and China. Titan Quest is a an overlooked gem. It is a huge game: 30-40 hours for one playthrough. This port is very good. Controls could be a little better; using my primary abilities is a bit cumbersome. Switching between two sets of skills is also clunky, but this game was obviously made for mouse and keyboard. I encountered one major bug very early on that deleted all my progress, but that only happened once. A few minor bugs here and there: lighting issues, items disappearing rarely. Also the classic TQ font was changed for whatever reason. The font used in the game doesn't match its grand scope. That's a minor nitpick, but a few issues hold this game back from being perfect. Other than that, it is an excellent action RPG and well worth the price.
