Einstein proved that time is relative, but he sure didn't try tracking it with Toggl. But maybe you should.

New update is awful

I used the old Toggl timer for sometime and grew accustomed to its quirks. I’ve tried to give this one time so i can tweak my behaviors with the app but it’s a big fat no for me. You can’t adjust end time without using a time slider. adjusting starting time slides your whole time up. I will often forget to start a time when i’m walking into a client’s office so I almost ALWAYS have to go back and adjust a starting time. it’s impossible to do this without screwing up my entire entry in this new version. Additionally the “suggested” task that are there upon open never seem to change and are projects i haven’t worked on in over a month while current don’t appear. The slide up for the current log is annoying. I’d rather that be the first option and “recent” be available in a slide up. maybe it’s just me, but the slide up is so close to the bottom of the screen that i always pull up my phone setting shortcuts first and not the logging mechanism.

what i do like: reporting seems to be better. i like that i can search for a project or @ it to add a time entry to it without scrolling through a list. that’s about it.

lots of work needs to happen here before i can use this again. PLEASE let us at least the old mobile app timer until this gets figured out. The reviews sound like I’m not the only dissatisfied customer!

New UI is bad

I’ve used the old app for years. Most recent design is bad. 1) I don’t like the slider from bottom. I want to see my time for TODAY, yet you hide it and force me to slide it up to see it. Why would you hide my time entries for today? 2) I hate, hate, hate the way you now have to manually enter time. The only way I’ve discovered is to move the slider up and down. Really annoying trying to get the number you want because you end up going too far or too little. And forget about exact minutes. Geez. Just let me type in the minutes please. 3) assigning a project is a pain. I have around 20 projects and the list isn’t even alphabetized. What a pain. Like most have said, this version is a step backwards. There’s been some great suggestions by others and it seems devs are reading them. I just hope they’ll use some of them.

The bugs I complained about previously seem to have been squashed, and Toggl is clearly putting a lot of effort into even more improvements. I never used the old version of the app, so I have a different perspective from most of the other reviewers, but I like it! The UI is simple but lets me do what I want to do: straightforward time tracking. I'm expecting it to get even better over the next few weeks, based on the developer feedback in the other reviews.

Reserving that last star for an app that works well in ways that I don't even know I need. Also, one thing I like about a competitor's app is the ability to easily switch entries without opening the app via a widget.
